Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

                                                                                                                      The food was meh. We had 2x scallops, 2x pork, and 1x lamb special. The lamb didn’t arrive with the other dishes, and when it finally came out it was way way overcooked and cold. None of the plates were warm, but the lamb was particularly cold. We ordered 2x martinis, both times asking for three olives and both times only receiving one. They were attentive with the coffee refills. Dessert was crème brûlée, which was fine, but could have used more sugar and carmelizing on top. The cheesecake was more cake (not NYC style) and simply about preference. The beautiful Christmas decorations did not disappoint. Live music was great as well. Would not go back - especially for the price and service.

                                                                                                                      It was Christmas Day and the restaurant was slammed. Maxed out, and everyone was working very hard. That can be unfortunate, and we drew the short straw. Our table may have been the worst in the otherwise glamorous and gorgeous house, as we were upstairs behind a massive pillar with no view of the spectacular Christmas decorations. Our servers were overworked and doing their best, but a wine order was forgotten and no one checked in for 15 minutes so I finally flagged down an overworked manager. Steaks were perfectly cooked, but the mashed potatoes were plated long before the meat and cold - a sign of the overworked kitchen. I would definitely return and give it another shot, for a drink and meal at the bar or if I’m assured a better table. It’s truly a beautiful place and hopefully this was an off moment in an otherwise very successful and lucrative holiday season.

                                                                                                                      Poorly, poorly managed. Started with burned lobster bisque. Then, returned a steak because it wasn’t as stated and mostly fat and was told they would replace it. Instead, the Manager gestured to the waiter to return the plates to the table after re-firing them. Waiter tried to tell us they were new steaks so we returned them and our Christmas dinner was ruined. Asked to come back to give them a second chance and will do that, but Christmas evening with family is done and can’t rewind that night.

                                                                                                                      Choice of Christmas special ,leg of lamb was disappointing Visually not appealing, and the flavor and texture not what I expected All the other dishes we ordered were very good ! The atmosphere ,ambiance, and service were very nice!

                                                                                                                      Exceptional service and food. The sommelier was helpful to find the right wine. The holiday decorations made it very special. Returning is something I look forward.

                                                                                                                      We visited La Grande Boucherie during Christmas day. - restaurant looked very festive and cozy. - live music - food 4 stars out of 5. Oysters were amazing. french onion soup was ok, but nothing special. I ate FILET MIGNON and it was really good. My husband had STEAK FRITES and said it was nothing special, not going to eat it next time. For the desert we ordered PROFITEROLES it was tasty and alot! Overall experience was nice, we will come back!

Highly recommend the cassoulet, be sure to order bread as well. The restaurant was well decked out for Christmas and the staff were attentive and kind.
