Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

                                                                                                                                      Aside from the pretty Christmas decorations, the entire experience was underwhelming. The service we received was extremely slow. My own dish was delivered and I had no silverware. It didn’t matter much though, my dish was cold. The Caesar salad tasted like it had been washed, but never dried. The only dressing was the leftover water. The steak frites were tough. The best part of the meal was the bread. Save your money.

Everything we ordered was great: escargot, foie gras, pear salad, wagyu carpaccio, rib eye, filet mignon, and whole branzino. Dessert we had the cheesecake, crème brûlée, and chocolate mousse. Special appreciation to the service from Our waiter, Amid, not sure of proper spelling. And there’s Valet!

                                                                                                                                      The ambiance is great, music is a bit too loud combined with kids screaming next table …mussels were not fully cooked and a couple of them didn’t open at all, didn’t like the sauce either. My daughter enjoyed scallops but there were only 3 of them - just right fur 10-year old! My husband liked his lobster bisque but desert was a bit bland and chewy (too much caramel). The chocolate mousse that we tried last was much better choice!

The place was decorated in such a cute way. There was a huge and very real Christmas tree in the middle of the restaurant. Overall, the food and drinks were delicious and the service was great. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Great value for the price. I would definitely recommend and will come back for sure.

Our table was a little tight and by the door, so drafty. But we were seated almost immediately and service was quick and pleasant. Would def recommend.
