Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

                      The ambiance is unbeatable and the food was pretty good, but not exceptional for the price. The wine deal was great. The service was overall pretty good, but we had a few issues. When we arrived, with a reservation, we had to wait about 25 minutes for our table. We were eventually taken to the side room, so our table was nice, but I would’ve been disappointed if we’d gotten a table in the middle of the main area or upstairs because it wasn’t as cute and the main area was pretty chaotic. While waiting for the table, they suggested we wait at the bar, which we did, and nobody ever acknowledged us or took our order. When we sat down, there seemed to be confusion about who our server was and multiple people came up to our table to take our order and check on us. That being said, they were all very professional and helpful. I will say, it was my friend’s birthday, which I put on the reservation and reminded our (first) waiter, and they never did anything to acknowledge it. We ordered two desserts, and they didn’t even give her a candle!! I’ve never experienced that before, especially at a high-end restaurant. That was very disappointing.

                      We had the best birthday brunch and our server Zeno — and all the server team —was amazing . Zeno was super attentive and knowledgeable as well as fun and kind! Can’t wait to bring all my friends!

                      The restaurant was far too congested, and the staff did not create a welcoming atmosphere or go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. Initially, we were seated at a table right next to the bar, surrounded by patrons standing and waiting for their tables. I had to request a different table to find some relief from the chaos. With so many guests arriving and what appeared to be poor management, the environment felt disorganized and hectic—definitely not what I'd expect from a classy restaurant. The food, unfortunately, also fell short of my expectations. I ordered a medium-well steak, but it arrived overly done. Overall, I left feeling quite disappointed with my experience.

                      Food was not what we expected chicken was undercooked way too salty fish was over cooked and did not taste like anything we will not be going back anymore.

                      A great experience. Great service by Travis. Cocktails were excellent. The Chateaubriand for two was cooked perfectly. All in a beautiful setting. This was our second time dining here and everything has greatly improved and we will go back.

                      Emily provided great service. We had the duck cassoulet and coq au vin. Everything from service , wine, food, ambiance were terrific.

                      I had the duck and it was a disappointment. Very expensive for the caliber of cuisine. Nothing to write home about with this experience.
