La Nacional has been feeding Spaniards and Latin Americans in New York since the 19th century from its historical brownstone in the heart of what was Little Spain. Today, our volunteer-run non-profit has opened its doors to create a community restaurant and gathering place for everyone to enjoy. The Society sponsors the visas of Spain top young chefs - providing them with an apartment in our brownstone to draw inspiration from La Nacional’s past and establishing a culinary epicenter in New York City for Spanish food. Our goal is to offer diners innovative cuisine, reasonable prices and a neighborhood atmosphere for everyone.

The Restaurant at La Nacional is the catalyst for significant cultural and community programming that reflects the Society’s 158 year-old mission. This includes free or low-cost apartments upstairs for artists-in-residence and opening our event space on the parlor floor to community events, cultural pursuits and charitable causes.

In addition to our restaurant space, La Nacional offers a newly refurbished, fully-equipped large event space on the parlor floor of our historic brownstone. With our expansive catering service, full bar, and premier staff, we can accommodate a wide range of unique events. The room can hold over 100 people and is equipped with audiovisual technology, including a large screen and a new sound and lighting systems. We have hosted conferences, classes, cultural events, concerts, meetings, weddings, private parties, film screenings, and more. I’ve been living in the neighborhood for two months now and have been to La Nacional twice. Incredible tapas here and very authentic. Some people would even say best tapas in the city but I’ll let you be the judge.

Food always great. The Bartender before we sat to have dinner was not nice and didn't want to take our order. The manager winded up taking good care of us. I think she knew what happened. Always a great experience coming here. Its a neighborhood gem.

One of the best values in the city. This Valencia inspired restaurant features an amazing atmosphere, warm service and AMAZING FOOD. I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while, and, after randomly meeting Chef Paco, I decided it was time. I was not disappointed. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. The tapas were tasty, the paella was on point and the mocktails were marvelous. The open kitchen and bar make the place look smaller than it is. Theres plenty of space for big parties upstairs and a private room in the back. The upstairs features amazing club like atmosphere and is big enough to have a wedding party of about 70 (I’m currently shopping a venue for a reception dinner so I asked). The most impressive thing was the tab- there were six of us and we went crazy on ordering: 5 mocktails, a beer or two, charcuterie plate, 6 tapas, 2 salads, a large seafood paella with chicken and chorizo (add on), and almost every dessert on the menu (I hate flan but this flan changed my mind- it’s a must try). The bill came to about $60 a person with tax and tip!!! No wonder the place is packed, this value is unparalleled in the city. 6 stars out of 5. Will be back often.

Well worth a visit, great food, local hangout with amazing service. Loved every minute of it, has that Spanish feel of conversation and family being at the top of the agenda

Always excellent food! In addition the service is impeccable. Everyone is contributing to an overall comfortable and easy dining experience. Shout out to Adrianna (at the door) for always insuring we are taken care of and Adrianna (our waitress) who is always attentive, friendly, and helpful!!
