Since 1996 in Cruz Bay, St. John. A Favorite of locals, loyal repeats and new guests. We just moved to our new beach location as La Tapa Plage in the Wharfside Hotel Village in March of 2022, still featuring the same interesting ever changing menu including fresh local seafood, organic greens & herbs form Coral Bay, flavors with a touch of Spain & France (Basque Country), Germany and Caribbean. Our goal is to make you feel welcome, cozy and inspired by our great wines, delicious food, good service in a beautiful atmosphere. ---Open for dinner service at 5PM Friday through Wednesday. For parties larger than 6, please call the restauarant at 340-693-7755.---We will be open for Thanksgiving, but closed on Christmas Day.-**We do not have high chairs or booster seats. If you need either, we do have bench seating in the dining area that work's best for small children. Please request bench seating when making your reservation.**

                                                            Our party of three dined on a Saturday night. Even though they were busy, they seated us, with us having arrived a half hour after our reservation.. Our server, Ananda, was superb. Very knowledgeable, fun, attentive without being obtrusive , even though she was very busy. The food was sublime. We ordered items from all over the menu and literally everything was outstanding. It is not inexpensive, however. Very happy to have dined there.

                                                            What a disappointment! Our server was inexperienced which made the dining experience of the food a tough combination. The pork chop’s was under seasoned and the mango salsa was not fresh, our veal was nearly burned was quite dry, the red cabbage was was dull and had a bland boiled taste, the cheese plate and charcuterie appetizer was skimpy. An awful experience compared to 2 years ago where it was wonderful.

                                                            I’ve been coming to the top for over a decade. It was always good, but once they moved to a different location it became even better The top is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in St. John

                                                            Service was fine at the start, but as tables filled the staff could not keep up. We ordered dessert and we gave up after 30 minutes and asked for the check.

                                                            When on the Island of St. John, La Tapa is always one of our favorites! We'll always try and add a new location to try out each year during our time on the island, but we will always make time for La Tapa! Always highly recommended!

                                                            The service from start to finish was wonderful. What an amazing and hardworking staff! We had several small plates to share and bread service with the garlic and oil - It was absolutely fantastic. Our entrees of pasta, Mahi-Mahi and Veal were perfectly done. We each ordered a dessert and played 3 - 2- 1 which is when each person tastes and then passes the dessert right - My favorite was the grilled pineapple - but raspberry bread pudding was the table favorite. We loved everything about the night.

                                                            My veal was partially burnt on the bottom. The tuna didn’t have a lot of flavor. The pasta langostino didn’t have much flavor either. We were there last year and it was much better. The value just wasn’t there.

                                                            The wait staff were inexperienced and the bartender don’t know how to make a basic gin and tonic drink. Our waiter had long hair that kept falling in front of his face which he constantly kept sweeping back with his serving hand - unsanitary and unappetizing at best.
