LATHA, Swahili for flavor, celebrates Africa and the diaspora’s rich and diverse cuisines. The menu curated by Executive Chef Digby Stridiron honors the interconnected journey of the foodways and culture of Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the Southern United States. Our contemporary pan-African kitchen respects historical recipes and crafts cuisine from thoughtfully sourced seasonal ingredients that reveal the connections between Africa and the diaspora. It is a journey of discovery along the trails of our ancestors, telling the authentic stories of the foodways and how they have shaped eating habits and cuisine worldwide. We invite guests to join us on a flavorful journey of discovery and appreciation. LATHA, in downtown Phoenix, in Heritage Square, is a place to have a shared immersive experience with friends or family while enjoying food, drinks, music, and culture in our dining room, bar, or outside patio. Van de OpenTable-redactie: LATHA betekent "smaak" in het Swahili. Deze hotspot werd in 2023 en brengt de smaken van de Afrikaanse diaspora uit Brazilië, het Caribisch gebied en het Amerikaanse zuiden samen. Het trok dan ook meteen de aandacht van Phoenix Magazine en The Infatuation. Het menu varieert van gefrituurde kip en bananenrum-wafels tot ossenstaart-barbacoa. The food was spectacular. So much flavor. The dishes were unique, the menu had so many unique options. The service was outstanding. Our server and the owner came over many times to tell us about the entrees. We enjoyed the live music. Great night. Will come back soon.

The food was outstanding, with the goat cheese and shrimp agua chile being particular highlights, and the plantain chips and southern cake were also delicious. The service was exceptional and the price was very reasonable, making it well worth a visit, even from as far away as north Scottsdale.

This was an amazing experience! The brunch menu had a number of interesting items. Our food was perfectly pared and tasted great! Talking with the owner and the server enhanced the experience. We had recently been in Africa and this was a good and fun thing to do.

My mom and I LOVED dining here! The vibe and ambience was homey and eclectic, the live singer (Coco Watson) was amazeballs, and the fooooooood - the food deserves its own paragraph. We got the whipped goat cheese with black garlic honey and chapati bread and the watermelon jicama salad to start - both were stunning. I practically licked the bowl the goat cheese came in. And then the entrees blew our minds. The oxtail barbacoa melted off the bone and right into your mouth with all the flavor in the world, and it paired gorgeously with the homemade mac and cheese it was served with. And the duck tajine might have been the most delicious preparation of duck I’ve ever tasted - perfectly cooked, full of flavor and fun vegetables (I LOVE SUNCHOKES!). Finally, the New Year’s special dessert was a Caribbean Black Cake served with a mini coquito - PERFECTION. Overall a *chef’s kiss* restaurant experience. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!

our first visit to the restaurant. the hostess made sure we got a table for three inside the main room. the food was excellent. i especially liked the perfectly cooked and well spiced duck tagine. the portions were generous. The weight staff were excellent and pleasant and brought our food on time. We plan to return at the first opportunity. this is an incredible restaurant

Latha is amazing!! The food and dessert was great. The service was even better. Everyone was friendly and attentive. There was also live music and an awesome shop inside the restaurant.
