Reliably delightful, a classic French bistro with a traditional menu and a fabulous wine list. I’ve been eating there for 40 years and hope to eat there for decades more.

Nice place. Drafty and cold by the window. Steak was a bit dry. Frites not quite awesome. Escargot were “chewy”. Service was good, but not seamless. Overall, a very nice dinner.

The best onion soup. Like really good. Thought a French bistro would have white table cloths. Bench seats had rips in them. Good service. Had to grab waiter a bit but good when alerted.

We had a lovely time with my family. We enjoyed the onion soup, steak and egg, burger and croque madame. Topped with a lovely Chablis. Overall great experience and service. Recommended !!

I had my anniversary dinner here with my wife, and sadly, the overall experience was terrible. Here are the main issues we encountered: Service: The waitress treated us unfairly. She mentioned a tax exemption to the three tables around us but failed to inform us when our bill came. This felt discriminatory and unprofessional. Food Quality: I ordered the famous duck confit, which was highly recommended, but it was excessively salty. When we brought this to the waitress’s attention, she was dismissive and offered no meaningful solution, leaving us disappointed. Ambiance: The ambiance was average at best. There was very little space between tables, offering no sense of privacy, which detracted from the experience, especially for a special occasion like an anniversary. I was hoping for a memorable celebration, but this experience was far from it. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration to improve service, food quality, and overall customer experience.

The meal and service were amazing. We had the Escargot and Foie Gras to start which were both beautifully presented and delicious. Then we had the Trout Meunière and Half Roasted chicken which so flavourful and delicious. We added Brussel sprouts which were the best I’ve ever had with a maple glaze, and Frites. For dessert we had a chocolate souffle which was beautiful and heavenly. We were celebrating a birthday and it was the perfect place. Highly recommend! Also if you love wine the have the longest wine list I’ve ever seen. It was literally a book.

There’s not enough staff to handle this restaurant appropriately. Seems the wait staff was bussing their own tables which certainly gave them no time to be proper servers. It was too noisy to hear my companion. We joked that perhaps we needed to wear those cone collars for dogs to direct our voices across the small table. I remember when the food was good at this restaurant. Seems a thing of the past. We didn’t stay for dinner, but rather opted to leave after a drink and appetizer as we’d been there over an hour and our dinner order still had not been taken. I will not select Le Sélect Bistro in the future.

The moule frites was so salty. Moule are naturally salty seafood and doesn’t need to put too much salt. The frites had too much salt and side orders from friends ordered were very salty as well. The chicken dish was not worthy for $36.00.
