Located in the heart of York minutes away from York Minster and The Shambles, this stylish restaurant boasts elegant interiors and an attractive heated outdoor courtyard.

Lucia's patisserie is open from 9am every day. The main restaurant opens from 12pm.

Starters were wonderful, the Buratta was divine. Mains a bit indifferent, chicken milanese was lovely. Dover sole was over cooked and though flavoursome was a bit cottonwool texture.

The service and food were excellent, it was a little noisy but I'm not surprised as it was busy due to it being an fantastic place to have a meal. We chose off of the lunchtime set menu which was great value for money and we were all impressed with our food.

We had a wonderful evening at Lucia, where the romantic ambiance set the perfect tone for a special night out. The lighting was warm and inviting, and we appreciated the thoughtful spacing between tables, allowing for an intimate dining experience without feeling crowded. The food was excellent, starting with an amazing antipasto platter that was beautifully presented and full of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every bite showcased the chef’s attention to detail. The service was impeccable—waitresses were professionally dressed, attentive without being intrusive, and ensured everything arrived in a timely manner. For the main course, I had pasta, which had great flavor, though I would have preferred it slightly more al dente. The tiramisu was rich and indulgent, though a touch too sweet for my taste. Despite these small details, the overall experience was fantastic, and I would absolutely return for another lovely evening.

Excellent food One member of our party had a couple of food intolerance and the staff were fabulous they couldn’t do enough for her running back and forth to kitchen to make sure that what she asked for was ok for her The only downside really is that it could be a bit lighter inside as a couple of us had to use our phones to c the menu Other than that a fabulous place with fabulous staff

This is our first time in York and to Lucia. The food was Good, service was quick and efficient the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back on our next visit to York.

Don’t waste your time if you have a food allergy! I booked almost 3 weeks in advance for a friend and I and advised I had a mustard allergy/gluten intolerance at time of booking online. Re-confirmed this upon arrival and staff advised this was already in their notes. When seated was brought an extensive gluten free menu, but not an allergen guide. Ordered a pasta dish with bacon, almonds and cheese. A few minutes later a staff member returned to advise I could not have this as it contained mustard and then handed over an allergen guide. When I looked through the guide EVERY choice on the menu was listed as containing mustard. My reply to the waitress was “there is nothing on here that I can eat as everything is listed as containing mustard” She headed to the kitchen and then returned saying chef may be able to do the steak for you. This was the most expensive item on the menu and was also marked on the allergen guide as containing mustard. I did not want to eat a steak when I had ordered a pasta dish from the menu choices I had been offered. I then asked the waitress if mustard was such an issue why did they not contact me to let me know in advance and I would have cancelled the booking. She apologised but had no real answer. We then had no choice but to leave Lucia York and try find somewhere else at 8pm on a Saturday evening. I have eaten in this restaurant previously (around 18 months ago) and in numerous Italian restaurant’s across York, the UK and Italy and have never experienced such an issue with mustard before. It felt very much like I was a major inconvenience to them and they wanted to make as much money out of me as possible to compensate for this.

Hi Sharon, Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced during your visit. Guest safety, especially regarding severe allergies, is our top priority. When you informed us of your strict requirement to avoid cross-contamination, our manager, who assisted you during your visit, carefully reviewed the available options. After consulting both our allergen guide—which we shared with you—and our chefs, we determined that, due to mustard being used in most of our dishes, we could not guarantee a completely allergen-free meal due to cross contamination. The only option we could confidently offer was the steak, as it remains untouched until cooked. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me directly! Our lunch at Lucia was perfect from start to finish. They took note of a birthday celebration and welcomed us with a birthday card. The food is simply awesome. A must try in York. Make sure you reserve first to enjoy your dining experience.
