Lucia York is an all-day restaurant and cocktail bar serving a modern Italian menu feat. homemade pasta, gelato, pizza, pesce & carne dishes seven days a week.

Located in the heart of York minutes away from York Minster and The Shambles, this stylish restaurant boasts elegant interiors and an attractive heated outdoor courtyard.

Lucia's patisserie is open from 9am every day. The main restaurant opens from 12pm.

    In the winter, do not pick an outside table. Despite the people with blankets and the heated lamps outside, they all looked freezing so I am glad I waited for a table inside. Food was delicious and they were very accommodating to dietary preferences.

    My wife and son and I were in York for a special weekend, as I had never been to York before. My wife had been to Lucia's a few times before and recommended that we all go there as it was good, so I booked a table in the restaurant for us around 2 - 3 weeks prior to us going, we were all looking forward to it. We arrived at Lucia's about 15 minutes early and was told our table wasn't ready, so it was fine, we waited on the seating area outside, more people came and were taken to a table that had a booking at the same time as us, but we were still happy to wait and after around 25 minutes we were told our table was ready. We were taken upstairs, (not to the restaurant) and seated at what looked and felt like a breakfast bar in a kitchen and we were sat on bar stools where our feet couldn't touch the ground. It was clear that the upstairs was the cocktail bar as it was full of younger women, all very loud and the language was quite bad, my son and I were the only two males in the area where we were put. It was quite dark, the music was also quite loud and there were no condiments on our table. We asked to be moved but we're told no, our food was adequate and rather bland. It was an experience my wife was very keen on showing us the same experience she had, had in the past but felt let down and was very disappointed. I'm afraid that bad experience has made us decide not to return.

Here at Lucia we believe all areas of our restaurant are equally warm and inviting but I can understand why noisy tables would impact your experience. We encourage guests to specify seating preferences during booking, but I apologise we weren’t able to move you on this occasion due to prior bookings, particularly during a peak time.     Lovely meal as always, just a shame the crispy parsnips and kale was missing on the braised beef

    Visiting York for brothers birthday. Booked bottomless at Lucia’s. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Only had to ask for drinks twice. Food was very nice although would have been better to get the garlic bread pinwheels first before the mains. Decor and vibe very good. Toilets lovely and clean. Would definitely go back.

    Well we keep comming back and trying the different menues and we will keep on comming back, so what else do we need to say other than, who ever is reading this, you can try all the restraunts in York and you will wish you had just come to Lucia's instead.     I was visiting my daughter this evening and on my way the a19 was closed due to an incident and traffic diverted, told my daughter would be late to be informed we had an hour to eat our meal, my daughter ordered had a starter and ordered our mains. I arrived stressed as you can imagine. Food arrived was lovely tried to order desserts to be told had 20 mins it felt like we were on the clock when empty table next to us. Said could we have bill as felt rushed to be told we could get drinks in the bar, I really don’t get you have a couple of hours to have a meal why? People want to enjoy the night not feel like your on a conveyor belt.

I'm sorry to hear you felt rushed towards the end of your meal, it is never our intention for guests to leave feeling disappointed. Especially during peak times, our servers have time allocations for each booking in order to accommodate our high volume of reservations. Whilst we try our hardest to extend times where possible, it's unfortunate we weren't able to on this occasion. Whilst your server did offer you desserts and a space to finish your evening at the bar, it's a shame to hear this option didn't work for you.
