Mathilde French Bistro is a quintessential French Bistro in the SOMA area of San Francisco. A cozy main dinning room and romantic patio room which is covered and heated, allowing year round dining.
The cuisine is traditional bistro faire, with its voted best in town French onion soup, baked escargots and duck confit. Soon as you set foot at Mathilde, you will feel like you are back in Paris.
Mathilde Bistro is also the sister restaurant of L'ardoise Bistro.

Come and celebrate Thanksgiving with us ! We offer a $95 Thanksgiving menu per person. The star of the show is our Mary's organic Heirloom turkey, but you can opt for Filet Mignon or Chilean Sea-bass as well. All come with the traditional sides : -Cornbread stuffing with sausage, chestnut and date -Brussels Sprouts -Mashed Sweet Potato -Cranberry Sauce Also, a choice of 3 Appetizers, and a choice of 3 desserts. IT is a wonderful night to celebrate birthday with my friend. Lena recommend us for a wine that it is very affordable. We have 3 bottles. The escargot is good. Lena also help us to make something that is not on the menu that night. Very happy dinner.

We’ve been to Mathilde many times and we are always have a wonderful evening. French classics beautifully prepared, warm service, and a nice outdoor patio. We’ll keep going back!

This place is a vibe! Loved it as soon as we walked in. Service and food was great! Had dinner with a group of friends and we all loved everything we ordered. Will be back!

Consistency on every level for the past 30 years. There is no better place for Bistro French food, as well as their sister restaurant L'Ardoise. I would double the stars if I could.

Another enjoyable meal & evening at Mathilde! I love their outside courtyard space, which is fully enclosed so not too cold for fall evenings in SF & has a beautiful ambiance. The food is very good & authentic to French bistro style. Our server was a lovely woman with a very caring attitude. Lina, the owner, & her chef husband, are always present, & you can feel they care & are on top of things.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Mathilde. My husband had the duck confit, which is the best either of us has ever had. I ordered the halibut special with mushroom risotto, which was delicious. The service was really good, and the owner was very nice. We would definitely dine here again the next time we are in San Francisco.
