   Mission was very lovely. We showed up a little early for our reservation and it seemed like we were the only people who were not regulars. The host was charming and sat us at a lovely window seat. My family was hungry from traveling and we started with a Caesar salad and the bone marrow app. Both excellent. There are not cocktails available so I had a nice red wine rec by our server after some discussion about what I like. We had fad several fish dishes ( cod and swordfish ) and wagyu beef cheek pasta and also steak frites. All were delish. Would recommend this restaurant with out hesitation. Get a reservation. Only downside was the fact that they don’t have a bar but don’t let that discourage you from coming here. Excellent

   Mission Bistro: Our Home Away from Home There are restaurants, and then there are places that feel like home. Mission Bistro is the latter for us. Every time we walk through their doors, we are met with warmth, kindness, and a level of hospitality that is simply unmatched. It’s not just about the food (which is always incredible); it’s about how they make us feel. From the servers to the management, and even the owners, everyone at Mission Bistro goes above and beyond to create an experience that lingers long after the last bite. They greet us like old friends, anticipate our needs, and make every visit special. It’s rare to find a place where you feel this seen and appreciated. On our most recent visit, something truly heartwarming happened—someone paid for our meal. It was an unexpected and beautiful moment, one that only added to the magic that Mission Bistro creates. It’s a place that attracts good people, fosters kindness, and reminds us of the joy that comes from sharing a meal with those we love. We can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s not just a restaurant to us—it’s a little pocket of joy in our lives. We are so grateful for the food, the atmosphere, and most of all, the people who make it so special.    We had a fantastic time at Mission Bistro. The service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed everything from the fresh salad and bread with California olive oil, to the chanterelle mushroom appetizer. Our entrees were equally delicious—crab cakes, swordfish, and black cod, all cooked to perfection. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal—scrumptious! We truly enjoyed every minute of our dinner and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience! Thank you so much!    Mission Bistro is located in the old Bouchee space, and carries on the tradition of excellent French food and wine in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The beet salad was amazing but also large; best shared between two people. Both the swordfish and the bouillabaise were Provencal versions, and excellent. The roasted red pepper rouille (NOT the awful American red bell peppers) which accompanied the swordfish was outstanding. Spouse loves seafood stews and said this was one of the best versions of bouillabaise he's received in recent years. Service is friendly and charming; we were happy to see Mission Bistro serves lunch as well as dinner. It can be very hard to find good restaurants open for lunch these days, and we will definitely be keeping this place on our list for both lunch and dinner. The dinner menu listed several dishes not available at lunchtime, so a good reason to return on our next trip!

    We celebrated our granddaughters birthday here and absolutely loved the vibe. Attractively decorated (loved the art works), very comfortable seating, and excellent service. My husband I I shared a Caesar salad which had super crisp romaine, not all that green leafy romaine that’s everywhere now. The dressing was perfect. We then split the Wagyu special. It was my first time trying Wagyu beef and our server mentioned it was American Wagyu, not Japanese. Sadly it was a very chewy piece of meat but the sauce was delicious as were the greens. We split a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio (we are not red drinkers) and again, our server was helpful and suggested one for us. Perfection! Our granddaughter ordered the Steak Frites and we tried hers and it was much more tender than ours. The fries were delish! She was treated to gelato for dessert. I would definitely return!
