We have been coming to Mistral for over 30 years, and it has never disappointed. The service is always great, the food is consistently delicious, and we are welcomed like old friends, even if we had taken a long break between visits, as was necessitated by having a newborn And having to eat in family type restaurants for his first 10 years. Even then, we would make sure we got in a visit to Mistral at least three times a year. Prior to that we dined here pretty much weekly. We always joke that it’s our little Manhattan bistro in the heart of Sherman Oaks. Great date night spot!

The onion soup was not up to our expectations based on previous visits to Mistral. Not much flavor in the broth, but the cheese and bread inside of the crock were just fine. Both of the dishes we ordered, linguini with calamari and shrimp and the mussles were both bland. In fact the person sitting next to us order the linguini also and asked for salt and pepper and proceeded to add both to his dish. (Not a very good reflection on the chef). Won't be going back there for a long time. Definitely not worht the money that we paid. There are too many other restaurants to go to.

A couple of days ago I received the Los Angeles Times selection of the 100 finest restaurants in town. That the critiques of the LA Times have peculiar taste buds is an understatement. They also ommited a large number of restaurants in the San Fernando Valley worthy to be included in their selection. MISTRAL is a superb restaurant in Sherman Oaks.Great food,great service , excellent bar. I wish to enlighten the food critigues that they do not need a passport to come to Sherman Oaks. Just an unbiasd ettitude to enjoy the culinary riches of the City of Angels.

I love this place as it's caught in a time warp of old fashioned ambience & decor. If you are looking for the latest in hip, slick, surroundings go somewhere else. The food is excellent & the wait staff is attentive. I always order the same thing, the mussels & french fries with chocolate souffle for dessert. So delicious.
