Thoroughly enjoyed a special lunch in the moody, classy Mott 32. Ordered the set lunch menu which was beautifully prepared and presented and good value for delicious dim sum delicacies, a main and order of vegetable fried rice. Service was excellent and the setting so elegant.

The vibe was pretty quiet but it was a Wednesday after work - the lounge area of the Shangri-La was much more vibrant! Food was good - not the best dim sum I’ve ever had but cocktail was yummy!

I’ve dined at Mott 32 around the world, and specifically the Toronto location nearly 10 times since they opened. I’ve always had a 10/10 experience dining here. Service is great, and the food is amazing. It’s elevated Chinese, while maintaining authentic flavours.

Came here for lunch dim sum. The dim sum has some unique innovation and is executed relatively well, but not perfectly. For example, their take on the classic xiaolongbao incorporates flavours from traditional Shanghai hot & sour soup, which work very well together. However, each individual xiaolongbao is served on a little bamboo … things that stick to the bottom of the xiaolongbao skin. This makes it very difficult to remove the xiaolongbao from the bamboo thing to eat without ripping the skin and losing the soup inside. The siu mai has a quail egg in the middle that is cooked soft, so you get a wonderful runny yolk in the middle. This is fantastic, except the server doesn’t warn you about the potential leak so it might drip onto your clothes. So while the innovation is unique, quirky, charming, and does add to traditional dim sum dishes, the surrounding experience isn’t as polished as it could be. The other factor that takes away from the experience is the unfortunate (for them) fact that Toronto has fantastic dim sum at reasonable prices within and just to the north of the city. While it could be an interesting culinary take for those with deep pockets, the absurdly high cost and not-quite-polished experience distracts from what could otherwise be a slam dunk recommendation.

The ambiance and vibe is very suitable for celebrations. The food was tasty and well presented. Service was excellent. The restaurant could improve by eliminating the cake serving fees as it might irritate customers when they spend so much at the restaurant and still being charged a cake serving fee. $12 for two people for just helping the customer cut up cake is unnecessary.

The overall dining experience at Mott 32 was excellent. The Peking Duck was the best I've ever had—crispy, succulent, and packed with flavor. The second course, the fried rice, was equally outstanding. The cocktails were delicious, though quite pricey, even higher than other high-end spots. We also tried two soups; they were good, but nothing extraordinary for the price. Service was impeccable—attentive and knowledgeable—though we did feel a bit rushed once the food started arriving, possibly due to it being New Year's Eve. Overall, I would definitely recommend Mott 32 for a special occasion.
