As an Indian, the food did not feel authentic. The taste is catered towards the American palate rather than Indian

We had a Great dinner there for my birthday. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, Indian Salad, Bhaingan Bharta, Aloo Gobi, Garlic Naan. It was WAY too much food for 2 of us but I wanted to try a bunch of my favorites. Everything came out hot (except the salad of course!) and tasted wonderful. We got “medium” spicy level and I felt we could have easily gone to “hot”. The staff was wonderful and also gave me a sweet birthday treat at the end. If we end up back in Alexandria we’d definitely go back.

My wife and I love Indian food. When traveling, we seek out recommended Indian restaurants. We dined at Namaste in Old Town Alexandria on May 20, 2024 at 6:30. We had reservations made through Open Table and were seated immediately. Not surprisingly, the menu was extensive. We decided on samosas, garlic naan, and two different paneer dishes as entrees. (Mild for my wife, spicy for me.) The young lady serving us was very pleasant and checked on us as we waited and then dined. The kitchen was prompt in preparation and our food was at the table within 15 minutes. EVERYTHING was delicious and spice levels were accurate to our specifications. We had nice conversations with our server and the owner/manager (?) who dropped by our booth before we departed. BTW, the raised booths were semi-enclosed and private. We liked that. Delicious food, welcoming atmosphere and friendly/prompt service. We would dine there again were we visiting Alexandria. Highly recommended.

Great service, delicious food, attentive service (admittedly we were the only ones in there at guest). Highly recommend.

My wife and I had very different experiences. I had lamb korma, which was good and appropriately spiced as ordered, mild. My wife's vegetable jalfrezi, ordered very mild came quite spicy, both at first and second attempts. Third time was the charm. Prices were very reasonable and the ambiance very nice.

Compared to other Indian restaurants, Namaste Jalsa is good. The service was a bit slow, but once we were helped, the staff was attentive and friendly. Food was good - sauces were excellent, but the chicken in the Chicken Tikka Masala was very dry (they used white meat). Naan was very good, as was the Saag Paneer. Not the best Indian food, but fine for a basic meal.

Excellent Indian food! The spinach chaat was outstanding as were the entrees. We were in town for one night and it was a nice surprise to have such a great restaurant near our hotel. I’ll definitely go there if we are in Alexandria again.

Great food but very slow service. We arrived at 6:30 and food arrived to table until 7:45. Nice people, good food but it take too long to get your food.
