More than a restaurant, Nicksan is a culinary experience of the highest level. In its open kitchen, the ingredients of two ancestral cultures located on opposite sides of the world are fused.

Its owners Masayuki Niikura and Ángel Carbajal, originally from Japan and Mexico respectively, opened the first Nicksan restaurant in Los Cabos in 1994, creating amazing congruencies between the flavors of both countries.

Some of the signature dishes that you can taste at our fabulous Residences Plaza location in Nuevo Vallarta are the spicy tuna cake, the salmon skin cone, the Shiromi Coriander and Maguro Lemon sushi rolls, the cucumber salad with wakame seaweed and crab, the gorgonzola shrimp and the serranito beef fillet.

Our friends have a place nearby that we stayed at and went for a dinner here on the last evening. They had raved about the meals here and they were right. We ordered 5 dishes for sharing. Cucumber salad was fresh and tasty. All meals served hot. Both Japanese and Western and none disappointed. Service was fast and very professional. Very comfortable ambiance both indoors and out. Value for quality was excellent. Fully recommend.

Unfortunately, this is not a sushi restaurant; it’s mostly sushi-style. There are very few traditional sushi options and when they are offered they do not have important fresh ingredients like crab. Every role that includes crab has imitation crab. Most dishes are drowning in syrupy sauces that completely masque the flavor of the fish and even the veg tempura was a thick layer of batter over an even thicker piece of raw vegetables. Service was attentive but almost every dish was a disappointment. And the prices are ludicrous for such below average food. Avoid unless you plan to only drink and listen to the DJ.

Was so excited to try Nicksan after so many of my friends told me that it's the best sushi in the bay. Well was super disappointed with most everything. The rolls lacked flavor and over stuffed with rice. The tempura was greasy and the meat medallions were tough and dry. The outside decor was a nice change and the drinks were solid, but that's it. Sorry folks but not sure if I'll go back.

Excellent service, tasty food, and wonderful drinks from the Fonsini Coctail Bar. Our servers Manuel and Natalie were exceptional. I highly recommend you try Nicksan when you are in NV, you will not be disappointed!!

Very attentive wait staff who had good suggestions. The food was excellent, and the portions were ample. The mixed seafood salad appetizer was definitely enough for two people! It could have been a meal in itself and was very very tasty. We had a 6 PM reservation and were surprised to have a two for one happy hour for alcoholic beverages at that time of day.

Eating outside is a wonderful choice. This was our 2nd visit to Nicksan and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience both times. Restaurant is a $10 cab ride from Vidanta.
