Founded by Chefs Michael Mina and the late Ken Tominaga, of the famed Hana Japanese Restaurant in Sonoma County, PABU Izakaya brings forth a modern take on traditional izakaya-style dining. Now, with Tominaga’s son Keita as Chef/Partner, PABU continues to be a destination for world-class sashimi, sushi, grilled meats from the robata and a seasonal cocktail menu. The restaurant offers the finest locally and globally sourced jet-fresh seafood flown in daily from Japan’s famed Toyosu Market accented by its signature selection of A5 Japanese Wagyu.

We were in San Francisco celebrating our 10th anniversary and decided to have some sushi. After much searching, I found this restaurant, which had great reviews. From the moment we arrived until we left, the service was exceptional. We were greeted with a happy anniversary card and some champagne. The food was delicious, and our waitress was amazing. We truly enjoyed our dining experience, and we will definitely come back.

Great dining experience for a large group. All the leaded and unleaded cocktails were delicious as was all the food. We ended up ordering double of all the small plates because they were so delicious. The cod and the spaghetti were decadent and perfection. We didn’t have time to stay for dessert so we will have to check them out next time. Thanks!

We came for an important business lunch for a party size of 8, there is no waiter showing up for the first 10mins, after we finally caught their attention, we waited almost 40mins for our food to show up and two orders are missed. The appetizer came after the main course after several reminders. I can tell the kitchen and service management is a mess. We have to cancel our next meeting due to how slow the service is and we still got charged 20% mandatory tips. I will definitely avoid Pabu for business lunch moving forward.

I was early for a work group dinner so sat at the bar for a cocktail - bartender was trying his best to ignore me, when I finally was able to order, he didn't clarify which gin I wanted in my G&T, and when he delivered my $17 dollar drink, didn't bother to put it on a coaster like he did for others. I asked for a coaster & he didn't give me one, a neighboring customer did. So I didn't start with a good impression. Our table server was excellent & the food was amazing. I do think that the server may have been better about helping us judge how much food to order. We did over order but managed to eat most of it!
