   Always an enjoyable time at Plate Restaurant in Leawood. Professional kitchen delivering quality meals. Service by Drake is attentive and entertaining. It’s as if we were his only customer. This is our favorite restaurant!

   We have dined at Plate several times and it is always enjoyable. During this visit, we invited another couple to join us. We started out with cocktails off of their menu which were all delicious. We decided each couple would get the fixed-price menu, which we consider a good value at $84 per couple, and it includes one starter (we got foccacia and the truffle bread/butter, both were excellent and share-able), two salads (Caesar or Moderno - yummy and fresh) and then two Pasta dishes (we chose the Bolognese and Spaghetti with Meatball, the other couple chose Bolognese and Bucatini) - they were full of flavor, the meat was very tender and the sauce was lovely. We split a bottle of Italian wine among the four of us with dinner and I thought the Italian wine selections were very good. For dessert (you split a dessert) we chose the Bolindo and the other couple chose the "doughnut cakes" with lemon sauce (sorry, I forget the name). We sampled each and they were some of the best I've had! Overall I give the food five stars. My only comment is that service on this holiday evening (Memorial Day) was unusually slow. We were seated at 6:30 but did not receive our main dish for quite some time after the salads. That's a first at Plate and may have been due to short staff in the kitchen, but, that could have been better overall. Our waiter did a good job of checking on us and letting us know the food would be out soon, so I appreciated that. In general, and because we have had good dining experiences at Plate, I will be back in the future, but will certainly take note of the service aspect as two hours for dinner is a bit long. The restaurant was not that busy so I think the shortcoming must have been in the kitchen, not in volume of customers.

   What can I say?! Plate is always such an absolute delight. The food was fantastic, and the service was attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed my birthday brunch and the special gift. We always love coming to Plate and bringing friends and family to experience it.

   I often weary of reviews, but wanted to weigh in on Plate. I eat out 7 nights a week. Plate is on my “every week” list. Why? I come alone generally, sit at the bar and pick places based on food and congeniality of the bar staff. I used to go to Plate on Sunday night, but switched when Alex quit working Sundays and I moved to Mondays. She is my favorite - always friendly, efficient, and a delight to visit with. The food, management, and staff at Plate are among the most cordial and cool of the all the places on my weekly list. Shout out to Alex!

    Consistently good food and service. Our waiter, Drake, was really good at knowing when to check on us and when to leave us to talk.
