Booked a table for my Birthday for a quiet celebration with my family, I dined here a few times before and the experiences were great. Unfortunately, on this occasion it was miserable. As we came in, we got seated right in the centre of everything, including the noisy bar - Even though in the booking options I choose something cozy and out of the way. When ordering drinks, my mother didn't get ID, However my wife did for some reason, previous times that did not happen. My wife forgot her ID so they refused to serve her alcohol, even though my mother was at the table and I refuse to believe that my wife looks younger than 16. The whole interaction was awkward and uncomfortable. My mother volunteered to go home and collect the ID and left as she was unhappy with the situation. I ordered my drink and stewed in frustration, I asked myself "Is this really how they treat their guests on their special day?" Which irritated me even further so I decided that we are leaving as well and going to a different place. I waited until the waitress came by with the drink that I have ordered, when she did I informed her that we will be leaving, but did say that I am happy to pay for the drink but will not drink it. The waitress became puzzled and started using phrases like "In the Uk you have to show ID etc." Basically treating us as if we are fresh off the plane - that was wildly irritating as well. But we calmly left and will never return. Sad to see how much the standards of this establishment have fallen, being treated like this did not feel good.

Great service and lovely food. We had the Sunday lunch which was perfectly cooked with our only comment being slightly too much pepper in the Yorkshire puddings. Followed by some fantastic cocktails.

Fabulous service and staff. One of the meals was not very warm and had to ask for condiments (ie not offered as serving the meal) but great ambience.

There's not a lot of choice for a business lunch meeting in central Wakefield but that's not the Qubana's fault & they certainly didn't disappoint. We had steak sandwiches & tapas between us which were all well presented and very tasty...good value under the 'lunch menu'...perfect for our purposes!!

Been to qubana before and enjoyed it, but last night was very disappointing. Chose to book downstairs, hence not booking the terrace. On arrival our table wasn’t ready, we were then taken upstairs to the terrace, decided it wasn’t what we’d booked so asked if we could sit downstairs, got seated downstairs and when I asked why we’d been seated upstairs the manager said you have to put in your request not to be seated upstairs, odd as I specifically didn’t book the terrace. Our table was booked for 7:30, no food by 9.15 so we left to go elsewhere. Felt sorry for the waiting staff who were all very pleasant but clearly embarrassed at the service. We did give some feedback on the way out to manager but basically it boiled down to that they’d had a large party in and only have a small kitchen. I would definitely not go on a Saturday night again, they shouldn’t book up the restaurant if their kitchen is unable to cater for the tables. Wish I’d have looked at reviews before booking as it seems to be a regular thing.
