Accessed from the High Street and through a glass lobby, Quod restaurant with its terrace and bar, forms the hub of the Old Bank Hotel. Formerly a banking hall it was transformed by owner Jeremy Mogford to become Oxford's largest and most successful restaurant. Stylish, contemporary design describes the space which houses an amazing collection of young British art. Sandra Blow, Craigie Aitchinson and Gary Hume adorn the walls. There is a spectacular terrace where diners can enjoy a morning coffee, the superb value two course lunch or a cocktail.

Quod and the Old Bank Hotel have a large secure private car park and is accessed via an automated barrier. Priority is given to hotel guests though spaces are readily available throughout the weekdays.

Coaches and trains provide regular services to and from destinations across the UK and there is a direct coach service to London every nine minutes. Coach stops are a couple of minutes walk along the High Street and Oxford Train Station is around 20 minutes walk away.

Afternoon Tea in Quod

Take part in the most traditional English pastime of afternoon tea in the heart of Oxford. With its large windows looking onto the famous colleges, Quod is the perfect stopping point during a walk of the city. Enjoy classic egg & cress or ham and mustard sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam and a cup of tea or perhaps a glass of champagne. In the summer months tea can be taken on our recently refurbished Italian garden terrace.

We really enjoyed a family meal. Loved the twinkly lights. Food and drinks were really good. The kids were well catered to. Lovely!

Quod was very lively and packed on the Saturday evening before Christmas but the service was excellent and the food was very good. The Quod formula of a range of well-coked, tasty food to meet a variety of tastes and preferences was working very well. As usual the wide range of choice on the all-day menu was supplemented with the interesting daily specials. Put simply, Quod delivers. That’s why I choose to eat there regularly.

Special Plaice (three orders) was small and poorly cooked. Not grilled? Not fresh, tasteless , not hot ((butter not melted!). Seemed like leftover portion. Poor value. Would have complained but would have spoiled the occasion. Other food ok and duck good. Service haphazard. Got first drinks order wrong! Disappointing given previous much better experiences over many years.

A nice room with just the right ambiance. Welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good menu and specials board. Very good cooking and perfect portions. A lovely lunch.
