Red Dog is an authentic Bar and American BAR-B-Q restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.


Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

    The food is absolutely incredible. To add to that you get plenty for your money. Could not fault our server she was amazing. On the ball our glasses were never empty. Shame we never caught a name because she really deserves some recognition! 😊

    The food was nice, but the service was dreadful. Took our drink and food orders at the same time, food took half an hour to come, which isn’t too bad. When it came, asked the waitress where the drinks were. No drinks were forthcoming until after we’d finished the entire meal and were about to ask for the bill. Then had the audacity to ask for a service charge. Would not recommend, and will not return

    Service was exceptionally slow. Waitress who served drinks was miserable. We both had burgers. They were nothing special and bacon was so salty we had to order pints of tap water to get them down. Fries don't come with burgers so have to be ordered separately which makes a main meal v expensive- all over £20 and certainly not worth that. Food took ages to arrive and wasn't particularly hot when it did. Ordered bbq croquettes as a side. They were basically some kind of paste with inedible hard lumps of fat, deep fried. We didn't eat them as they were revolting. When the bill came and the waitress asked how the meal was we said not great and cited the croquettes. She replied "yeah, we've taken them off as we've had several complaints about them today". So why are we paying for them? She then tried to appease us by telling us about where she grew up and how her mother loved the theatre. It didn't work. All in all, a pretty rubbish meal out.

    Excellent service and food as always. Our waitress was so approachable and helpful. We was served by the manager in one of our first visits years ago, and we can always tell his great customer service values are translated across all staff there, and the staff are doing a great job of making the manager proud. And the food?!!! Got to be the best place in the whole of Nottingham for food. So many different flavours and cuts of meat they never-not surprise us with what what insane flavours they have stored in their locker, and they are always super helpful with the menu and flexible if you need any to make any adjustments. We had a platter with two philly cheeseburgers, was our best order yet. Thanks guys🙏

    Food was delicious, service was brilliant, staff so friendly and helpful. Our only issue is automatically adding a tip onto the bill. This is an American tradition. We don't tip when it's requested so we refused to pay it, which is such a shame because if it hadn't been added automatically we absolutely would have tipped, and for a lot more than what was added.

    It was a great experience for myself and my partner. The food was really nice, and we enjoyed every bit of it. Nice ambience as well and staff were very friendly too. Will definitely patronise again.

    The burgers are very filling, you'll be surprised. Great tasting. Expensive when you have to buy your sides separately. Great service

    Our waitress was fantastic, attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The Texas Trinity platter was underwhelming: the brisket was sliced too thin, lacked a bark, had an almost invisible smoke ring, and was overly fatty, indicating it was under-smoked. Some proper rub would have elevated both the brisket and ribs. The Nashville Hot chicken tenders were especially disappointing—completely lacking in flavor and spice, which was surprising given the style. They were also quite dry. Given the good things I had heard about this place, this was a letdown. Ambience was nice, but the food didn’t justify the price.

    Please note that the noise level review was at 12pm on a Thursday. Red Dog Saloon is awesome. The vibe is extremely relaxed, the interior is comfortable and the music is very theme appropriate. Our server was fantastic, and had no issue talking us through the menu items and answering any questions in a friendly and enthusiastic manner. The food itself was phenomenal, the slow smoked bbq ribs were unbelievable, the fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly, and the Red Dog Lager was crisp and refreshing. The prices here are higher than your standard lunchtime eatery, but by no means is anything overpriced. All in all, I would recommend Red Dog Saloon to anyone, and will absolutely be returning in the future.
