   Food was decent and tasty but small portions and overpriced. Ribs and chicken meal, 2 ribs, 2 pieces of chicken and a slice of toast was £20. The same with my partners. Service charge was put on the bill without being made aware so £48 for two main meals and we left feeling hungry. Ther servers were nice and food was tasty to eat but we wouldn't return based on the above.

   Disappointed and Overpriced – Not Worth the Hype Visited Red Dog Saloon in Southampton on 18th April 2025 as a group of six BBQ lovers, genuinely excited after seeing all the great things online. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype — not even close. From the moment we arrived, things got off to a rocky start. We were seated at a table (a perfectly reasonable one for six people) and then abruptly asked to move without much explanation. Fine, we didn’t make a big deal out of it, but it definitely set the tone. The real issue came when myself and a friend ordered the Oregon Platter. Priced at £70, the description had us expecting something generous, indulgent, and perfect for sharing. What we got instead? One sausage. Three ribs and other bits. For two people. Honestly, we were shocked. How can you call that a sharing platter? When we raised it with the manager, we were told it’s portioned based on weight. Sorry, but that doesn’t cut it. There’s nothing “sharing” about three ribs and a single sausage. It felt more like a tasting plate — and an expensive one at that. To make it worse, our sides of mash and beans were also forgotten. The food we did receive was cooked well, no complaints there — but the overall experience just felt like style over substance. The manager handled our feedback professionally, which we appreciated, but it doesn’t change how disappointed we were. Red Dog — we get it, running a restaurant isn’t cheap. But don’t advertise these platters as anything special when they’re actually pretty underwhelming. We left feeling let down and ripped off. Not worth the money, not worth the hype. Wouldn’t return.

   Awful. Arrived at the restaurant, we were waiting at least 15 -20 min and still hadn't had a member of staff take our drinks order. In that time we saw 2 other parties complaining and then the table and the side of us returned their food. Never in my life have we walked out of a restaurant before but we did tonight. Terrible service

   Overall it was fine but we were disappointed by the beef in the large platter being too dry to eat. We pointed it out to the waiter who just said he would tell the kitchen staff. The burgers were happily devoured, and chicken tenders were good. Just a shame about the beef.

   A nice warm welcome, with offer of a birthday shot which was a nice touch. But neither of us drink alcohol so maybe the offer of a birthday drink would have been more apt. I enjoyed my meal mostly and the ambience was pleasurable, however I found the food temperature was more than disappointing, the fries were barely warm and tasted like they’d been sat around for a little while before being served. The only thing that arrived satisfyingly hot was the macaroni cheese which was amazing! The servers were great and the overall experience was ok. I will return with the hope for hotter food next time but not being one to complain in the moment, I’ll just not return if I find the same issues a second time. Thank you for an overall ok experience though! 😊

   Save your money over priced and was over cooked and dry and mash was lumpy and well to much pepper in it beer was flat and didn't even taste it had been in the smoker big waste of money

   The BEST burger I've ever had i highly recommend coming here, you won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere and the staff were fantastic, very helpful and attentive. Will 100 percent be coming back, well worth the 2 hour round trip for sure.
