RÊVE is not that snooty, splurge-on-your-anniversary kind of French restaurant. Au contraire.
This is your classic, everyday neighborhood French bistro run by Chef Paul Magu-Lecugy & his wife, Laura. That kind of cozy little place you’d imagine in Saint Michel or Saint Germain. Not smack dab in the middle of the 'burbs. But lucky for you, that’s exactly where 5-star chef Paul Magu will be paying homage to the French comfort food that he fell in love with as a boy growing up in Paris. As a foodie, I'm comfortable saying that this is the best French restaurant in the East Bay. We've been going here Three or four times a year since the restaurant opened and it's always been great. Chef Paul and his team are awesome. The outdoor patio area is wonderful in the summer and covered and heated in the winter.

This restaurant is consistently excellent, no matter what you order. Wait staff always attentive and knowledgeable. You would not know how great this place is looking at its tiny front in a tiny lot. Also, if the tiny lot is full, you can proceed another block down Moraga Road to park at Lafayette Elementary School. Parking in their lot is $2/h until 7pm then it is free.

We had a great experience tonight for my daughter’s 21st birthday. The 3 things that we loved: Service: The host was gracious and wished my daughter a HB. Our server and bus boy worked like a team. They were informative, efficient and had a great balance of being attentive and not overbearing.. Food: We started with the pate en croute, Escargot , caviar on blinis, and French bread w/ whipped butter.. all wonderful For dinner we had the venison, sweet breads and mussels. The venison was served with a small venison Wellington with ground venison a very nice touch.. For dessert we had chocolate mousse and the special a rumbaba rum cake with rum and tropical fruit very refreshing. The mousse was decadent washed it down with a latte Atmosphere: We were seated outside and we were pleasantly surprised. It was a cool 52 degrees but the tent was nice and warm. The lighting was just right, and we had tons of natural light for most of our meal.. I hope you consider Reve for your next celebration. It’s worth it..

Reve is one of the best restaurants in the East Bay. It’s our go to when we want excellent food, decidedly french that never disappoints. My husband loves their cassoulet which is only available on certain days, but we joined their mailing list so that we rarely miss this dish when it’s available.
