Robun is a tribute to Japanese author Kanagaki Robun and his 1872 book Seiyō ryōritsū, which introduced Western barbecue to Japan.

Our modern-day interpretation of Yakiniku specialises in sharing plates of beautiful robata grilled dished large plates fused with elements from across Asia, paired with inspired cocktails and an extensive choice of Japanese whiskeys or sake in the most inviting and sociable of settings.

Alongside our innovative selection of sashimi, salads and small plates, our fresh sushi is served in a variety of creative incarnations including soft-shell crab futomaki roll with kimchi mayo and a tobiko-topped nigiri.

Upstairs in the Kanagaki Suite, we provide an events space and cocktail bar set to host celebrations and events. Besides hosting bespoke celebrations and meetings, the Suite opens up on weekends for a place to drink and dine!

Robun is the place to relax, unwind and enjoy sharing plates with friends and family. It will definitely leave you wanting more.

    Our second time at Robun. We chose the sharing menu between 3 of us. Highly recommended! Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Such a special Japanese restaurant in Bath. And not a chain too. Only criticism was it was a bit chilly last night in the restaurant. It had been snowing yesterday so was our first very cold day. Maybe a little more heating!

    We went on a low Tuesday night - but the food was generally unimpressive. Sushi was very run of the mill - chicken and waygu were fine but not anything out of the normal at a Japanese restaurant. Sake flight was nice and staff was helpful/well informed.

    Such an amazing place. One of if not THE favourite place for me & my partner. Writing this after our third trip and the food has been 10/10 every time, and I don't give 10s easily. Couldn't recommend this place more.

    Lovely restaurant,staff were friendly food was great.only moan was my partners food arrived 10 minutes after mine which was rather a long gap but otherwise great

    The “taste of Robun” tasting menu was a fantastic combination of dishes, all distinct and all extremely well done. Great flavours and textures, and everything was presented beautifully. The fish and meats were extremely high quality, sauces very tasty, and the tempura light and fluffy. The paired sake selection was delicious, and interesting as we had never tried anything but the basics. Service was initially too fast, but after a quick comment to the staff it slowed down and we relaxed more. I would always prefer to start fast and slow down though! Ambiance was fun, not quiet but not raucous or unpleasant. We ended up having a brief conversation with the table next to us but didn’t feel cramped. Our table could have been a little bigger to accommodate the main course selection but it wasn’t problematic. The staff were excellent - knowledgeable and friendly, dealing with a dairy intolerance easily, and answering menu questions etc. really well. All in all, worth going out of your way to experience.

    I had booked the meal for a large group for a birthday, the service was amazing and our waitress was spot on with the service she gave us! The food was 5 stars and worth every penny we spent and ontop the atmosphere was lovely. Would recommend highly and definitely will be dinning with them again here

    Some of the best Japanese food I have tasted outside of Japan. Sure it isn’t cheap, but quality comes at a price. Love it.
