                                                                                              I visit Melbourne every 3 months and I always go to Rockpool at least 1 time. This restaurant is very consistent in food. The steaks are very expensive but quality is excellent. On this occasion, I had the grass fed, bone in rib eye. Cooked perfectly, however could have been hotter. I know the restaurants says, they let it sit to retain juices, but I like the meat to be warmer than room temp. Our waiter Phil was excellent! Even though we had a couple of mis-haps he handled it with professionalism and care. Had the grilled shrimp to start, and my colleague had octopus salad which was very good. Another colleague had the pasta Bolognese and that was just average. I must point out, their bread and butter (Warnambool, I asked) was outstanding!! Will definitely return as the steaks are probably best in Melbourne.....

                                                                                              It was lovely and I had been wanting to go for a long time however the man who greeted us at the start was just plain rude. Firstly he claimed to not see our booking then he said I had booked for the previous day and then he magically found it. This took several minutes and mo smile or apologies. Then were were seated (many tables free btw) Our starters were divine and I would come back for the kingfish crudo and Italian sour no.3 alone. I was really looking forward to the steak and at $115 I thought it was going to be the best steak I had ever eaten and although the flavour was sensational, it was quite grissly and chewy. Enjoyed our meal and the ambience.

                                                                                              Upon arriving, the manager mood changes once she looks at me then I felt discriminated ruining the mood for my dinner. The service also took a while until drinks and menu arrive on my table. During that period, I could see the manager talking to the waiters not sure about what but it felt like it is directed to my table. It ruins my birthday dinner there. The food is amazing but just the service that ruin my mood.
