When we first opened our doors at 1983, the Sawatdee mission was simple: to take our community on an adventure full of Thai flavors and good times. Many years later, that adventure is still as exciting as ever.

Sawatdee Saint Paul was the first Sawatdee which opened in 1983. Located in lowertown, it has been referred to as & the old Sawatdee" since it closed to make way for the new. With a new location on Robert Street in downtown Saint Paul, & the old Sawatdee & is now & the new Sawatdee; offering you a full menu of authentic Thai cuisine that we are famous for plus a full bar.

This space holds up to 50 guests. Non-refundable room fee/deposit: $40. Food and beverage minimum: $350. Thursday night dinner before show at the Xcel. For a Thursday night at 6, we were the only ones there. Food and service was good. Due to traffic to St. Paul, we ended up needing ti change from 5:30 to 6. Was able to order quick, and we had no issues to get to show in time.

Our wait staff was great but it was a weekday lunch, we were the first customers of the day and it took around 45 minutes for my salad to come out. Most people lunching during the weekday don’t have 35 minutes to wait for food.

I had the duck. Looks like a meat clever was used to cut pieces. Lots of bone shards hidden in the meat. I couldn’t eat it.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner before heading to the Fitzgerald Theater. Great food and flavors. Our waiter Jool was a jewel!

Average food although options appeared great in the menu, below average ambience and not any close to the pics on the website, was pretty hot and made me sweat after 20 mins in, service was pretty fast and possibly had a total of 8 guests, serving sauce in to go plastic cups etc

Always love dining at this location (St. Paul). The food is delicious! The staff is amazing- friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Street parking- but we never seem to have an issue finding a spot. A gem.
