SOCALO is a beachy, California canteen and Mexican pub from award-winning chef/owners Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken. Located within the Gateway Hotel, SOCALO offers seasonal and organic SoCal Mexican fare with cocktails, Mexican wines and craft beers.

SOCALO has been named Eater's Superb Santa Monica Restaurants and Hottest Happy Hours, LA Times' 101 Best Restaurants, Best Tacos and Best Mexican Restaurants in LA by Time Out and Thrillist.

Open for indoor and outdoor dining, and counter service dining prior to 4pm (no reservations necessary nor taken). Takeout and delivery with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available.

For groups of 7 or more, please call 310.451.1655 to discuss accommodations, or visit socalo.com. We offer semi-private spaces, private banquet rooms, long communal tables, and two spacious outdoor patios.

We went on Taco Tuesday which they offer some of their tacos and cocktails at a discount. Great value. The lobster tostada was pretty good but the brisket taco was so delicious!!

Absolutely every single one of their staff members are so incredibly amazing, go above and beyond, and are incredibly sweet! The level of service we received made us feel special and cared for! Food is phenomenal and never disappoints, full of flavor, amazing value, and creative! This has easily become one of my favorite spots in LA❤️

This was our 2nd visit to Socalo. The first time we ate there, we were in the front room and were cold every time people came in the door. I called at 5:30 to ask if we could eat anywhere but in the front dining room near the door. The person who answered said he would make sure we were seated somewhere else. When we arrived, we were shown to the table in front of the door. When I told them my story, they said there were no other tables. Meanwhile there were quite a few tables empty on the side porch. After 10 minutes, they finally put us at a round table for 6 which made it difficult to talk to each other (we were 4 people). It took 15 minutes to get our first drinks. The food was very good. We ordered another round of drinks halfway through our meal and the drinks came after we finished and our plates were cleared.

We dined after the beach and with our children. Food was great and the staff was very accommodating. We will return!

The food and service was excellent! We also liked the cocktails. We had the Blood Orange Margarita a special for Dia de Los Muertos which was good too.
