Since Rafael Palomino—Sonora’s Executive Chef and Proprietor—opened the doors to this, his flagship Latin-fusion restaurant, he has received accolades from a broad customer base, including an “Excellent” from the New York Times. This creative, Colombian-born (Queens-raised) chef and author of five cookbooks, has since opened 8 more restaurants that span three states (New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania). Sonora, like Palomino’s other restaurants, boasts excellent service and mouth-watering dishes, paired with an extensive wine list and cocktail offerings. The food was delicious and plated beautifully. The only hiccup we had was that we ordered a lot of appetizers for sharing (8) and only one main dish. We asked that the appetizers not all come out at once, and they did, which was less than ideal. But still, easily forgiven when the food and the rest of the service were so exemplary.

Terrific paella and the sangria which was included was the best I've ever had - anyplace. What a bargain, but very crowded. Out waitress was incredible. We'll be back very soon.

We were there for brunch. Was very quiet early on. More crowded later. The food was great. Liked the variety of choices. Quiet guitar player in the background was a nice touch. We had a very leisurely meal. Have been here for several lovely dinners previously!

Asked for a quiet table and was seated next to the happy hour crowds. Waitress brought the wrong bottle of wine and the wrong entree. A patron rushed by and knocked over the ice bucket which was saved by my wife. The bill was wrong too. Won't be going back.
