Van de OpenTable-redactie: Originally from Torreon, Mexico, Eater Austin’s 2018 chef of the year and 2024 James Beard semifinalist Fermín Núñez celebrates his passion for handmade masa at Suerte. It’s the foundation for tacos, tostadas, and more stuffed with everything from duck carnitas to goat barbacoa and drizzled with a host of salsas. True to laidback Austin, it’s all served in a space with light woods and exposed brick walls alongside plenty of mezcal cocktails and natural wine.

    Food was all right but not outstanding, maybe because Valentine’s was crowded and busy and food lacked attention.

    Excellent food and atmosphere. It was lively, if not a little loud. We had four items, including the ceviche, brisket tacos, flautas, and sweet potatoes. I would recommend all. They were all super flavorful. The balance of potatoes and duck in the flautas was a little off (too much potato) which made it a little bland, but the mole sauce hit the mark and helped round out the flavor. We would definitely return and try other items.

    The best food we had in Austin! Incredible, inventive food. Everything we tried was the best until the next dish came and then that was the best. Fresh, bright ingredients. Service was top notch.

    I have never had a Mexican culinary experience like this one. The service was great & you could taste the quality in every dish, including the amazing dessert. However, the star of the show is differently the suadero tacos.

    First time there and it was amazing. The server was amazing. The Mexican martinis were amazing. The sweet potatoes were awesome. The Carnitas were delicious.
