This is a very compact and loud restaurant. The grilled items are great but the sushi is sub-par by anyone’s standards. The rice in all the rolls was mushy. The crispy rice appetizer with king crab was so-so with the crab being very good but the crispy rice was chewy. The three stars is purely due to the grilled foods. The Vietnamese pork is the best think on the entire menu!

I went with my boyfriend for lunch and we were one of four couples in the entire restaurant. We waited 45 minutes for our food, while others who ordered after us got it quicker. The crispy rice tuna was very difficult to eat. The rice was hard like a rock. We also had the tuna + Avocado with the express lunch and they gave almost no protein. The miso soup is also very salty. Overall it was average food with below average service.

Celebrated a birthday at Sushi-SAN with 12 people and the service, timing, atmosphere and most importantly the food, was perfect! We sat for about 2.5 hours and couldn’t have been more pleased with how the entire dinner went! Many of the people who came are not from the Chicago area and had not been to sushi-San and it definitely impressed the group!

The food quality was excellent! Food portions were just right. Prices for the quantity were high. I think 20-25% cheaper would make this place a star. Now, the happy hour portions and prices were right on; very good value. Service and ambiance were wonderful although noise level was a little high.

Sushi-San was an unexpected treat! The menu isn’t huge, but the quality of rolls, apps, and other dishes is really great. I had one of the best bites of my year here, as did my husband.
