   This was our first visit to Tapas Barcelona, and it came on a good recommendation. The restaurant was hopping early on a Friday night, and our server (Clara) was attentive and helpful while we waited for our family members to join us. The Sopa del Dia, cream of asparagus, was smooth and tasty. The small, but functional wine menu offered enough options at reasonable prices to share with our dining party. The remaining dishes - from the patatas bravas to the lamb empanadilla were just okay, not bad, but nothing especially memorable. The menu isn't particularly inventive or authentic, and all the dishes arrived over-sauced. Too bad. We were hoping to find another tapas restaurant in the tradition of the recently closed Jaleo, which has always been a kind of gold standard for us. Tapas Barcelona is a decades-old staple in Evanston, but after experiencing restaurants like Jaleo, there wasn't a lot to return for anytime soon.

   We had a table of 6 which can be tricky, but our servers were outstanding. Always checking in with us, dishes were brought out in a timely manner, drinks were always refreshed. Lovely evening.

   If you can't find time to visit Spain now, this is a great substitute. Tapas Barcelona has a welcoming ambience, great tasting food, and professional staff that is efficient without hovering. This was a return visit for us before attending a play at Northwestern. It's a 5 min. walk from the Church St. Self-park public parking garage to the restaurant. The abundant menu items are reasonably priced and easily shared. The basket of bread slices are perfect for getting the last bit of sauce off a plate. The experienced staff brought out various platters, timed so we could appreciate each one separately rather than everything at once, again highlighting the Spanish concept of "sobremesa."

   Great food and great service. Mr Manuel our server was incredibly, attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The overall ambiance was warm and inviting, creating a lovely atmosphere for our evening. Definitely 10/10

   Thank you Tapas Barcelona! For holding our reservation even after we were late 20 minutes due to the Chicago snowstorm. We had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner!

    My parents always love coming here for dinner whenever they are in town. We are huge fans of the bacon-wrapped dates and my mom always saves room for the tarrina de chocolate. Our dishes always look like the photos on display on the online menu and they taste even better. The addition of listing gluten-free dishes is greatly appreciated since my husband has Celiac. Thanks for making my mom's birthday dinner perfect!
