It was born of Chef Margaret Pak’s love for the southwest Indian coastal cuisine of Kerala. Our menu brings you traditions of Kerala along with playful interpretations from our culinary team. Rich with aromatic spices, coconut and curry leaves, the cuisine is a celebration of the bounty of the land and the sea.

Thattu truly shines as a culinary haven that caters to every taste and preference. My recent visit with my brother and spouse turned into a gastronomic tour that left us thoroughly impressed. From their non-alcoholic drink selections that were refreshingly unique, to a diverse menu featuring vegetarian delights, succulent seafood, and well-crafted alcoholic beverages, every choice was a hit. The culinary versatility continued with their meat dishes; whether it was pork, beef, or chicken, each was prepared to perfection, showcasing the rich, authentic flavors of Kerala. It's rare to find a restaurant that excels across such a varied menu, but Thattu does it with style and substance. The entire experience was enhanced by the warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it clear why Thattu has earned its stellar reputation. Fantastic food, drinks, and service. Would highly recommend! This was a nice change from the typical Indian restaurants in Chicagoland.

Good was excel. Super flavorful, you order by QR code. Highly recommend the yuca balls and eggplant. Also the namhattywas fabulous . Wonderful spot . Not fancy or pretentious. Just good food

Excellent food & cocktails- our party ordered many items off the menu and all were great! The standouts were the pork chop and the banana leaf Manhattan. Don’t wait- go!

As a person from Kerala, especially from Kozhikode, I believe Thattu did full justice in bringing the cuisine in a new light. Loved the twist on the Cocktails, and absolutely stunner starters. I ordered the appam/ chicken curry for the main course and what a delight!! All in all a wonderful experience!

One of the best meals in Chicago! The biryani is one of the best as is the Negroni. Don’t skip the fried chicken bites!

Outstanding meal and terrific dishes . Been to Thattu, a few times and note the progress over the years. Reservation made earlier in the day guaranteed us no wait. Alcohol is available with a native twist to the traditional cocktails. Food, Made ideally for the South Indian palate but not too spicy for the average palate and food similar enough to the East African and Caribbean dishes. The menu changes regularly but standard dishes like fried chicken, biryani, and unique fair like Appams(flat leavened pancakes) are absolutely delicious. The thali meals wand vegetarian sides are delicately made. Dessert was a a fried jackfruit cake and and payasam. Both exquisite. Tips built in and shared equally by all the staff. Ambiance is one of a casual restaurant with no airs. Simply laid out large dining room and very attentive staff . All orders are placed on individual phones and the tab can be kept open till the meal is done and gone. Service was quick. Street parking can sometimes be a challenge. A wonderful experience to which we will most certainly return.

Food, especially the mussels dish, and cocktails were very good, even outstanding. The tendentious, overlong, info dump upon seating, and clumsy, baffling ordering and payment process using QR codes and cell phones, not so much.
