---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

    We had very delicious authentic German food! We left completely stuffed and thought the price was reasonable.

    Good food and service. Enjoyed the beer flight. Desserts looked tempting but we were too full to try. Overall a nice dinner.

    Beautiful restaurant. Historic pictures and beautiful wood work on walls. Staff was very friendly. We had German schnitzels and we feel they could have upped their game by adding more spice or lemon juice or sauce. I’ve dined in Germany and had better. Dessert was delicious Black Forest Cake.

    I gave the food 4 stars, but that applies to the Rueben sandwiches. Three stars for my entree, the Schlachteplatte - Sauerkraut, smoked pork chop, chopped Bratwurst, Thuringer & Knockwurst with fingerling potatoes. Sounds like a lot of food, so split it with another person. The dinner plate was small. Piled with sauerkraut, but only 2 slices each of the sausages & the pork chop was the thickness of a slice of ham. Could not be thinner. And for $25, it wasn’t worth it. We also ordered a side of potato pancakes that tasted like hash browns. Our waiter was great! The Christmas decorations were beautiful and the ambiance was very cozy. Maybe other entrees are good, but if I go again, I’ll stick to one of the sandwiches.
