This was a great place for dinner, the food, quality, service and ambience were excellent! Probably the best crab cakes I have ever had. I highly recommend you try this place in uptown Whittier. The restaurant itself makes you feel like you are taken back in time. I will definitely be going back!

For the price, I was underwhelmed with the food. I had the duck confit with veggies and risotto. My duck was VERY salty and overcooked (prefer medium rare and the duck was well done), turnips were undercooked, carrots were overcooked and mushy, risotto was solid. My wife had the chicken breast with polenta. The chicken was just slightly dry, but the polenta was creamy and very good. For drinks, it was disappointing that they only offered coke and Diet Coke…no caffeine free options. Service was good, however. Overall, not bad, but not worth the price tag ($170 for two).

I like to support local businesses. This was my first and last time at Blackbird Abbey. I ordered the steak firites , it was good but over salted, potatoes were over cooked and the kale was very tough . Nothing like the photo on the web page. They accept credit cards but charge an extra fee. I didn’t find this out until presented will the bill. Nowhere is that stated, if I had known I would have brought cash. It’s a small thing but it angered me.

Very nice restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Definitely want to come back to try more of the menu.

A wonderful new restaurant in Whittier! The Mac and cheese was decadent, the Brussels sprouts were crispy and savory, the drinks were great and the steak frittes were so satisfying. We ended with a delightful cheesecake for dessert. We will definitely be returning soon.

Valentine dinner date night - staff was busy and at times overwhelmed but they made up for it in spades. Food / wine was excellent which made up for the small service delays. Staff was attentive and the heavy handed wine pour didn’t hurt at all
