The Cuckoo in Alwalton is a country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

The Cuckoo began life as a stables in the village of Alwalton, before becoming the Wheatsheaf Inn. The pub restaurant has a deep rooted history in the village of Alwalton a history that is intertwined with that of Rolls-Royce. For many years The Cuckoo housed some of the most highly skilled workers in the town when the town was famed for its luxury cars.

An attractive village inn with spacious gardens, we are well placed for riverside walks and the many attractions of the Nene Valley.The East of England Showground and the Holiday Inn Express Peterborough are close by, as is Nene Park.

    Staff are so lovely, the food was amazing and just the overall experience was incredible. Would recommend to everyone, one of the best meals I have had as well as the prices being fair for what you get!

    Very welcoming staff and we're happy to let us move to a bigger table as more people came than booked for and also very helpful in ensuring we had a table on the level for the 2 people who are less mobile. Always recommend this place

    Since we last visited the Cuckoo it has changed menu, also looks like it has changed management/staffing. When we first arrived the impression was that they were unorganised. The communication between the bar and the restaurant seemed to lack the professionalism. Food was average. Tables seemed more crammed in than normal. Would I go back? Maybe, if it was the last option.

    Booked a table for seven people, we were seated quickly and offered drinks while we chose the starters and the main course. The starter took about thirty minutes to arrive, the main course took another twenty minutes after finishing our starter. We chose the desserts and after about forty five minutes I had to ask if they were ready and was told they were just coming. Food very enjoyable but nothing special. A lack of staff after the restaurant started to get busy

    Shame they had run out of so many of the dishes, didn't even have a blue cheese sauce for the steak. Very busy restaurant, food was ok, service good.

    Limited menu as everything was off due to delivery failure. I had a salad that cost £11 which consisted if lettuce mainly. Very dissapointing

    We had a wonderful time - food was fantastic, waiter was lovely (Daniel) - value fOr money was great. A huge improvement on the last time I visited there - I assume new management? If this is the case, it shows - you have done a lot right

    Booked a corner table - it was perfect. Good choice on menu. Food was delicious.service excellent. Would visit again and highly recommend.

    Everything is fine apart from the continual visits from the waiters asking if everything is OK with our meals, just as you have a mouthful of food!!! If it were not OK I would certainly tell them without being asked. On this occasion we were asked by two different people within two minutes of each other . It becomes an annoyance.
