We were very disappointed having booked based on previous reviews. The burgers were not hot and no one came to check if we were happy with them. The only comment when they finally came to clear the table was, we will let the kitchen know, with no apology for the bad service and standard of the meals.

On a cold and rainy night in pre-Christmas York, we were glad to be able to secure a table for two. We read the menu and thought we would try the Monday night burger offer. The food exceeded our expectations by a mile. The quality was fantastic, the food piping hot, the service very good considering how busy it was with Christmas visitors. The surroundings so relaxed and comfortable we just had to stay for a lovely pud, a totally fab cheesecake with pear poached in mulled wine, a total showstopper! 😋 Altogether a lovely experience and only five minutes dash back to our hotel in the rain. Would definitely visit again.

From first getting our table service was quite poor, everything took a long time and prompting from one of our party. To be fair it was relatively busy but not manic. The food was good but portins of some meals were small. The servers didn't know if certain meals were gluten free or not and had to return to the kitchen for confirmation, which was disconcerting. The general upkeep was poor and tired, in need of a freshen up. The toilets are particularly disgusting and very off putting especially for the female members of the group. Overall we are unlikely to return for food. Very disappointing.

Our second visit in 12 months. A year ago it was a 4/5 star experience with a relaxed evening and some great burgers. This time not so good. The fish and chips were undercooked, floppy and oily. The staff were stressed with what seemed to be over-booked tables. We got our table 20 mins late and were then told we only had the table for 75 minutes. It was all quite rushed and not a very enjoyable experience. Thank heavens for the good beer.

A very quaint but cool looking place, lovely vibes with big portions of food, I’m sad I couldn’t manage to eat it all 😭 Staff are lovely and very attentive, all round pretty good!!!
