Staff made us very welcome. I had requested a table with a view as it was a special occassion and they happily managed this. Nice atmosphere in the pub with locals and visitors.

Totally overbooked for the amount of staff . The steak was fatty and chewy . It took over two hours for two courses and we left because there was no Sign of the desert coming

We apologies for your bad experience, due to the change of Management and being short staffed everything was overbooked and we didn't want to cancel people last minute, we hope you come back and give us another try

Booked for new years eve, menu looked really nice. They called us in the afternoon to change our booking from 8.30 to 7.30. Walked out at 9.30 not a plate of food served to us up to then. Ruined our new years eve as everywhere else was booked up. Fuming 😤 and hungry 😤

We apologise for your bad experience, unfortunately we inherited all bookings from previous management (which was way more than we expected) we didn't want to let anyone down but in hindsight we probably should have, we hope you give us another try

Staff were lovely , food ok but we asked for desert and no one came back to give us the menu. We booked early 6pm and I suppose it was New Year’s Eve and extra busy . Guinness was off and we were offered a number of ciders and lagers so it was very disappointing not to have draft Guinness or real Ales so we went back home instead of drinking there .

What should have been a lovely family occasion was somewhat spoilt by slow service. There was just one person serving but she was totally overwhelmed by the volume of customers . Our table was booked for 1.30. We eventually got our food at 2.50. We appreciate the pub was short staffed and that Katey was doing her upmost to keep on top of things. But it would have been nice to have been told on our arrival that there would be a delay. Would also have been nice to have had an apology. Needless to say we didn’t stay for desserts or coffees.

Hi Julie, I am sorry we let you down on your visit to the Golden Fleece. Unfortunately the Flu had hit our staff resulting in staff shortages. I know my staff did the very best they could but understand the issue resulted in you not receiving the level of customer service you deserved. I do hope you give us another chance in the future.

Lovely pub - very friendly staff. Food was good - we had the pie it tasted home made and the filling was good and fried chicken - which was a huge portion and very tasty. Great location.

Unfortunately, the prawn cocktail starter had far too much sauce on it which made it far too overbearing and the mushy peas that came with my scampi were lukewarm. The starter and steak and apple pie that my husband had were both very tasty and served at the correct temperature.

On Boxing Day at 5pm it was quiet at the bar and front area. The log burner was out so not much atmosphere but Kester arrived and lit it immediately. I had salmon and asked for it to be lightly cooked at it was perfect. My partner had the Angus steak rare and that too was cooked nicely. Kester looked after us very well.
