The Grape Variety is a neighbourhood, independent wine bar, shop and restaurant, selling great wines and food from around the world, located just 2 minutes from Chipstead Railway Station.

We opened in the spring of 2018 with the aim that a wine bar should cater not just to experts, but to all, so we created one where our guests could unwind at the end of the day with a great wine in a warm, friendly and genuine environment, whilst getting sound advice about which wines to enjoy, as well as to take away.

For food, we offer quality artisan cheese and charcuterie, alongside dishes such as baked Camembert, bakery sausage rolls, hot chorizo and potato, hummus with a spicy sauce, Spanish pâté and the like. On Thursdays, enjoy our wood fired pizza pop-up and our legendary Quirky Quiz runs every other Wednesday. We also host various pop-ups, such as art classes, comedy nights, brunches, wine, cheese and gin tastings throughout the year. Follow us on Instagram to stay updated.

We have partnered with The Kids' Table to offer parents the freedom to have a lazy lunch or relaxing Sunday glass of wine in peace at The Grape Variety. The amazing team at The Kids' Table will keep an eye on your nippers at a large table in the corner of the bar, whilst they enjoy crafts, games and creative table-top fun; meaning parents can enjoy a long leisurely lunch...and finish a sentence. The fun is for 3 - 10 year olds.
Quirky Quiz - Every other Wednesday 730pm

730pm START for our fortnightly relaxed quiz. A night of fun, banter and music, mixed with a selection of topical and unusual quiz categories...past evenings have had rounds on politics, crisps, racquet sports, music, sweet-shops, 1980s cop shows, geography and much more... A cash donation to enter, which is then collected and given to local community schools, Brownie and Cub packs, The British Legion and others. Our full menu is always available too.
Board Game Night- 1st Wednesday of month, 7pm-11pm

An interactive evening full of board games, ranging from the iconic classics to your modern favourites - there's something for everyone to enjoy! Shakes & Ladders will have their collection of over 150 board and cards games to choose from, suitable for all levels of gaming experience. If you don't know where to start then the Shakes and Ladders hosts are available to make some recommendations and show you how to play. We had a lovely time .. had a room to ourselves so we could hear each other.. food was tasty and the waitresses were attentive .. thoroughly enjoyed it ❤️

Absolutely superb in every way. We sat downstairs to start with then moved upstairs after some small plates (tasty) where there was a bit more hustle and bustle. Excellent service from Adrian who went above and beyond to cater to our tastes and needs - his knowledge is extensive and impressive! Taxi driver who collected us said 'everyone I pick up from here raves about the place!' which confirmed our experience is the very high standard at The Grape Variety.

Always a lovely evening. We had only booked a table for 2 but then needed a last minute extra and even though they were fully booked they were very accommodating. Great wine recommendations and good food.

Wonderful Sunday roast, food was delicious and wine was very nice. Service was good, the kids food was a little late out but staff were proactively apologetic. The kids table is such a great addition, unfortunately it finished at 5pm, when the email advertising it implied 6pm, so our little girl only got 15 mins on it which was a shame as it’s the main reason we went, but we’ve noted that for next time. Really enjoyed and will definitely return
