Michelin & James Beard-recognized Chef Ricardo Zarate has opened The Hummingbird Ceviche House featuring the Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) cuisine he’s best known for. In a charming space with a turquoise-quartz bar, The Hummingbird serves an irresistible bill of fare focused on fresh seafood prepared using traditional Nikkei techniques elevated by California influences. The Los Angeles Times' Laurie Ochoa wrote: "...the service is caring and the food, including an aji amarillo hummus flatbread and sesame-leaf-wrapped shrimp dumplings with tiger's milk aioli, is inventive and delicious. And...the Hummingbird is affordable." Diners delight in Nikkei hand rolls, delectable ceviches, small bites, hot dishes, desserts and house-made Chicha-Morada drinks. We keep coming back and the Hummingbird team keeps dazzling us with delicious dishes. A new dish for us was the miso cod tostada. The fish was melt in your mouth delicious and the jalepeno honey added a great kick. The whole team is really friendly and attentive. Definitely make a reservation as the word on this place is out.

Still thinking about the Chefs Creativity! Haven’t had this type of exceptional food in a long time! Absolutely delicious and I recommend the chefs tasting menu. Everything on the menu is delicious! Parking is difficult and no alcohol service.

This is an exciting dining experience. Every dish is delicious and you cannot go wrong with ordering anything on this menu. The rolls are sensational. Our favorites are the crab and the scallops. The shrimp dumplings are terrific. Never too spicy, flavor profiles are complex and differ with each dish. For dessert the beignets should not be missed. A fabulous addition to the LA restaurant scene. Hesitate to say too much as we need to be able to get a reservation and there’s already lots of buzz.

An absolute amazing experience. Everything on the menu was so imaginative yet the flavors from Peru were still there. Do not miss this restaurant. The food and service were 10/10!
