The Izakaya is located on the subterranean level of Momotaro. The Izakaya and its shared-plates pub-inspired menu echoes the Yokocho street scene of Tokyo. Narrow lounge-inspired ‘alleys’ around a central bar bedecked with hand-painted Japanese menus, moody neon lights, and vintage Tokyo street signs set the scene for the Izakaya’s direct nod to Tokyo’s most famous post-war black markets. Dark, energetic, and ripe with expectation, the Izakaya additionally offers a 30-seat bar featuring crafted cocktails, sakes, and a quality selection of Japanese whiskeys. Parties and programming are no strangers to the Izakaya, where a rotating selection of events, including Monday Night Karaoke, feel right at home in this lively lower-level atmosphere.

This whole set up is just a scam to get money… The room is way too small for as many people as they admitted… Less than a quarter of people were able actually have a chair and sit… Everyone else was standing room only, with no tables to put food or drinks on, etc. This, despite the fact that the reservation says “table for 2 “. The food was awful… The yellowtail maybe hadn’t turned? But was close… Salmon and sushi and a variety of three or four different subpar Maki rolls? I could get most of this quality at the grocery store. The bartenders were working really hard to keep up with everybody, but there weren’t enough of them. I would not do this again… Whoever the event designer was for this needs to rethink the set up… Either don’t have as many people admitted, or actually use the room and have multiple food stations so that you don’t have 100 people in line for one small buffet room that takes 30 minutes + to get through. Why not actually have people walking around with trays of food or set up two different food stations on either side of the room?. Crazy.

The food was delicious! It took way too long to get my first drink. 45 minutes between the time I ordered and it was delivered. They were short one of the ingredients in a house cocktail. Instead of recommending another drink, they told me it was coming. I finally ordered something else. Not the worst thing to happen, but kind of lame.

Hands down the best place to go if you want a fun upbeat Japanese restaurant with 10/10 food. The staff was incredibly hospitable and knowledgeable on the menu. I’d recommend this to anyone.

Perfect date night / birthday spot! All the food was exceptional and the service was excellent. One of our dishes took a bit longer because it’s prepared upstairs at Momotaro, but it was delicious. Staff even apologized for the wait time! (I’d wait for crispy beef fried rice again any day!) They brought out a dessert with a candle for my boyfriend’s birthday which was a perfect treat. Can’t wait to come back! ;)

The Momo Royale is what initially drew us in and made us stay. The Japanese sweet potato fries compliment the double stack smash like yin ‘n yang. Easily the highlight. Only downside is the Wings came out and they were so hot we simply just had to stare at them for 15min for them to cool down-still delicious though. We also ordered the Pirikara Gyu and was a sneaky spicy that underlyingly lingers, but in a good way. Downside it was also super hot so the stare at the plate continued. Great vibes but a lil loud, was kind of agreeing with whatever the waitress said. Also, really great ranch

It’s unfortunate I couldn’t hear the name of our Waitress. She was very personable and I could tell she really enjoyed her job. She was very helpful and simply pleasant. I’ll definitely be back for the king crab hand roll and burger. Splendid!

Fantastic meal overall. Music was a bit too loud, and it was quite cold downstairs for a good portion of the meal, but that did not take away from the tremendous food.
