Nestled in the picturesque Weald of Kent, the Peacock Inn is a peg-tiled, weather-boarded country pub dating back to1397, steeped in character and atmosphere.

With exposed brickwork and oak beams, the history of this ancient pub seeps from every nook and cranny.

Named after the peacocks that strutted around the nearby Glassenbury Estate, the pub has plenty of feathers and memorabilia among its brass and decorative hops.

If you believe the stories, the historic pub also has a special supernatural resident. A number of customers claim to have seen a mysterious “friendly” lady passing before the fireplace.
During winter months, relax by the roaring fire in the inglenook fireplace, or get cosy next to the woodburning stove.

Rather than the peacock pie once served, a menu of delicious traditional pub classics is on offer, along with the popular Sunday roasts.

The large portion of steamed veggies with my roast dinner were lovely, however, unfortunately, the roast potatoes were obviously reheated as we're very dry and tough. Also, our starter (prawn cocktail) came out with our main which a bit baffling. Staff didn't seem to know how to handle it. All seemed very young and inexperienced. However, the manager did eventually come to apologise and the starter was removed from our bill. Overall not bad grub but felt it could have been better. Beer garden is lovely though!

We were a group of four friends eating together. Lovely ambience, friendly helpful staff and great food! Didn't tick all boxes to say what it may be good for as they really didn't apply to our get together, but I'm sure it would be lovely for most occasions.
