Join us at the Potted Lobster for our Game Tasting Evening. The 6 course tasting menu will be focusing on seasonal game, sourced from neighbouring estates and farms, using traditional and modern cooking techniques to give you a delicious dining experience. For further indulgence why not upgrade to our wine pairing package and enjoy perfectly paired wine with decadent smells, tastes, and flavours to match to each course. Our Game tasting evening is running on Thursday 21st November 7pm onwards, and on Thursday 6th February.

Our Wine tasting evening is running on Thursday 6th March 2025.

Mrs R had the beetroot salad & I had the pate to start with. Both very flavoursome & well recieved. Mrs R had the red mullett for mains with sweet potato fries & veg. She said it was delicious. I had the beer battered haddock with pea puree & chips. The fish was probably the best I had ever had to be honest, together with the homemade tartare sauce. Unfortunately that's where the plaudits stop. The pea puree was only lukewarm & my pet hate it tepid food. The chips were at best awful. Over cooked & lacking substance. A bottle of Picpoul shared at a tad short of £40 was at the top end for the quality of the wine. All in all acceptable due to the scrumptious nature of the fish. Would I go back...most definitely, I just hope it was a bad night for the chips.

Beautiful food, and friendly attentive staff, can’t fault it. Lovely setting in Bamburgh. What’s not to like

Great meal for 6 both starters and main courses. Fish and chips excellent and good value. 2 crab salads which I thought may be a bit expensive but given the quantity of crab great value. All staff really helpful. Only minor criticism is the sourdough bread was a loaf and although nice would be too big a quantity for anyone. Probably better to serve as slices

Scallops with black pudding were so good last time, both of my sisters had it this time as well as me - still as amazingly awesome as before!! Brother in law (who's birthday treat it was) had the gravadlax and reckoned it was excellent. One sister shared the Fish Platter with me - it was amazing, mussel broth was delicious and lobster and crab claws were really good too. The only downside was it was sooo huge we didn't get close to finishing it!! It would definitely do three easily - lesson learned for next time! We would have loved to try puddings but we were all so full by that time we had to pass :-( Also really enjoyed the Albarino - I have been drinking the Portuguese one but the NZ one was really good too. A lovely evening with excellent service and good food and company - Thank you very much and hope to see you again soon!

Lovely fresh seafood, great friendly staff. I would highly recommend this place. Couldn't fault anything.

A decent meal. Fish meals were ok but not great taste to the fish!!. Service was very good.
