The Potting Shed is a place to meet, eat, drink, relax and chat your day and night away – where hanging plants, terracotta pots and timber beams meet brass, brick and iron. Where you can plant yourself down on the swing seat, bench or at the bar and feel like you are on your family’s porch.

It’s a lively place where you can hoe into fresh, locally harvested produce, delivered by our shed-hands. The same hands that will deliver you good-natured banter, craft beers on tap, great tasting wines and unique cocktails.

The menu offers cozy share options for groups, three course substantial meal choices for those wanting to make an evening of it and a fun selection of nibbles for people wanting a light after-work snack with their cocktails or a share jug amongst friends.

Service was poor. We waited 20 minutes after we ordered our drinks to our food. Drinks arrived slowly one at a time. Cocktails were nice. We didn't wait too long for food to arrive which was good. One of the bowls of chips was cold and under cooked. Other bowl was perfect. Burger was nice. Pumpkin dish was average and a bit plain. Was asked if I required sauce for my chips which I asked for ketchup - didn't arrive so asked again. Still didn't arrive and only after asking for a 3rd time did it arrive when I had finished my meal. Reluctant to try again as had the same experience previously but decided to give a other chance.

Lots of people, vibrant energy. Good food and great service. Prices are a little on the expensive side but thoroughly enjoyed The Potting Shed for lunch and The Grounds cafe for cake and coffee.

I travelled a 5 hour round trip this evening ( we come here each Christmas time for the display and dinner from west of Newcastle) and it was the worst visit we have ever had. My dinner (the fish with the scallops) was saturated in oil it was inedible and the fish was not much better - bring back the old fish and chips you had. A let down this year unfortunately especially with the drive we did to come.

The venue is lovely. Our waiter was helpful and worked very hard. However we had booked and we had to wait in line quite awhile with others who had not booked before a staff member could show us out table. The food was good and served while it was still hot. Pitchers of ice on the table in the hot weather was a lovely touch.
