I’ve been here several times now but no more. It is SO loud. The acoustics are terrible, the customers noisy, entitled Chelsea types who have to be heard however vacuous their conversation and it really makes it difficult to enjoy the absolutely delicious food. No attempt is made to reduce their shouting or for the owners to understand that noise lessens appetite. The staff is lovely, the decor fun, the loo upstairs was blocked but I should have mentioned that, I’m certain it would have been fixed. If only I could go when there were fewer punters!

A quiet and rain Monday lunchtime, however the Surprise a welcoming and atmospheric escape. Great food made with well sourced high quality ingredients. Friendly and engaging service added to the enjoyment. Excellent !

A favorite in london. Great table near the fire, very attentive and friendly staff, fabulous food, every course. Highly recommend.

Awesome pub. Love coming here. Our waitress (Elise - hopefully not butchering the spelling) was great, too!

A last minute booking turned out to be a fantastic lunch. Superb food, great atmosphere and above all wonderful service. What a find - we’ll definitely be back.

My friend and I had a delicious meal last night at The Surprise. The food was really good, the service was excellent and the pub itself was lovely! Would go back!

Had a wonderful meal at The Surprise. The Moules Marinière and Fish & Chips were both excellent, with generous portion sizes and great flavour. It was also a pleasant surprise to find Rothaus 0% on draught. The service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Great service and caring management and staff. Upstairs dining room charmingly British. Good food overall. Menu a bit too standard — could have been a bit more interesting and varied (ie, no fish; except with risotto or typical dish & chips). Will go back
