Friday dinner at Tapas Room, and food very good. In particular the cod croquets, octopus and chorizo skewers. Desserts also very good with the basque cheesecake and churros. Worth a visit.

We are locals and we have been going to The Tapas Room for many years. We hadn’t been for a while and we had a very disappointing experience and we suspect its downturn is partly due to the previous manager departing. They need to find a manger who understands Spanish food and is excited by it! The portion size / price ratio was ridiculous. For example, the octopus dish consisted of some sort of bland undercooked stew with about 6 slices of vacuum packed octopus placed on top. The menu was un-imaginative and certainly a far cry from any tapas restaurants we have frequented in Spain and the UK! We resented paying the bill and having to go home hungry (had to have a sandwich when we got home!) and upset that one of our favourite establishments in Tooting is now a no go for us!

He was a gem indeed! Regarding our new menu, we are still serving the same old tapas which was available when he was running the show but I’m sorry to hear that it wasn’t up to our usual standard. First time here, excellent restaurant! Staff were extremely polite, efficient, food was fantastic and the wine was great value. I'll definitely be going back!
