Since 1967, diners at the Tiroler Hut have enjoyed hearty Austrian-fare accompanied by live music in this cosy, cult basement restaurant.
Your host, the octogenarian Josef, opened the Hut and is still at the helm with his family alongside him, so you can expect a homely, Austrian enclave under bustling Westbourne Grove complete with cheese fondue, schnitzel, ice-cold beer, and, yes, the odd yodelling session. Or cowbell show. Or accordion rendition of 'Do-Re-Mi'. Probably all of them, truth be told.
It's a very good place for a night out (and late night food) and even better when enjoyed with friends and family; in the words of the late, great A. A. Gill, "go now - take all your friends."

Such a welcoming and brilliant atmosphere - a truly unique and special dining experience in London. Comfort food, traditional decor, friendly staff - would highly recommend.

Quelle déception, une fondue immangeable qui goûte seulement le vin et a la texture d’une béchamelle. La musique autrichienne, un enregistrement de mauvaise qualité. Un service ordinaire… Comme on doit partager une fondue, on demande une table plus grande. On nous répond que c’est réservé et on nous installe sur une petite table au fond de la salle. Une seule table de 2 était occupée à notre arrivée et une deuxième à notre départ, partout c’est vide. On comprend pourquoi après avoir goûté… et en plus c’est très cher alors ne perdez ni votre temps ni vos sous, allez ailleurs!!! Ps Je fais rarement de critique négative mais c’était trop fâchant. Pire repas mangé à Londres en 2 semaines 🙁

This was my second time at the Tiroler Hut in two months. I absolutely adore this restaurant. The food, the beer, the entertainment, everything is A+. I will be back again!

The restaurant serves very good Austrian food. The restaurant is well decorated and very clean. The guests are happy to be there for dinner. My server Mick was gracious and interesting.

Priceless entertainment with warm invites to join in the music and dancing if you want to. Friendly, fun and best night out in a long time! Will definitely be back.

As others describe, the older gentleman who owns the establishment plays music through the evening. It is quite entertaining, but don't expect to have a nice quiet romantic dinner conversation while so much is happening.

Very quaint and authentic - you could genuinely think that you were in Austria. The menu isn’t extensive, but the cheese fondue was lovely. Towards the end, we did feel however, the bread was too much. The waitress suggested a side order of Bavarian Ham £8.50 for 4 slices which was a shock, as that wasn’t stated on their menu. Josef the owner came around the restaurant, meeting all of the diners, and then proceeded to play accordion , keyboard, saxophone and cowbells to popular tunes from the Sound of Music. Incredible since he is 85 years old! It was certainly an eventful evening but not cheap, nearly £100 for a 2 course meal with 2 Beers.

Tiroler hut was a little bit subdued for a Thursday but I'd put it down to Jan spill off. Newly decorated Tirolerhut is nice but of course missing some of the atmosphere of the original. I ordered the veal Schnitzel. At nearly £30, you expect Austrian portions. What I got were British children's portions which just isn't acceptable for that price. Tirolerhut, Kinder sind wir net! Food tasted great though and Josef and the cowbells were fun .

What a fun time! Love the intimate ambiance, music, tap Bavarian beer and excellent portions of delicious Austrian food. The proprietor was singing and playing the cow bells this led to others singing along and dancing as we left. Yet it was quiet enough to have a conversation during the breaks. Take a group, you’ll have fun as the friendly staff will make it so.
