The Turf has been one of Devon's favourite destinations since 1827.

A Grade-II listed Georgian pub situated on a private peninsula, we can be reached only by foot, bike or boat.

Enjoy our panoramic waterside location with uninterrupted views across the Exe Estuary, Exeter Canal and Powderham Estate. Our unique location provides the ultimate outdoor adventure and immersion in the area's natural beauty - a tranquil haven to relax, unwind and escape.

Whether in our cosy indoor alcoves or extensive garden grounds, feast on a menu that celebrates seasonal produce from the South West's finest suppliers, curated by chef Rob Dawe.

                                            The food was lovely, chips were amazing. Everything came out piping hot and well presented and the service was great. We were a party of 3 and ordered the small seafood bowl, the Greendale burger and the fish and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding and the lemon tart, all the meals were big hearty portions and delicious. I’d highly recommend a visit to the Turf, especially after a good walk!

                                            It is always great at The Turf every time we visit. Bitterly cold outside today but a warm welcome, toasty Log burner and lovely food.

                                            It was wonderful as usual. I was just sorry there were fewer fish options than normal because of xmas. I love your seafood salad and monkfish curry

                                            An hour's 3 mile walk from opposite EUBC along the canal path got us to The Turf. We had booked a food slot for an outside table as all the inside was full already. Waited a mere 15 minutes for the Burger and Chips which was delicious. Perfectly cooked, locally-sourced beef with seasoned chunky chips and side salad, helped down with a pint of cider on a sunny day. Great service , friendly staff, lovely well-maintained picturesque setting and tasty food. What more do you need?. Highly recommend. cheers

                                            I’m glad we booked as it was a busy day, with lots of people crammed in. There were few things unavailable on the menu but we quickly chose other dishes. There was an incident with one of our party tripping over a hidden scooter (from another party) near the bar, the staff were professional, attentive and caring in dealing with the matter. The man serving on the bar (the older gent) was in particular, was great about the whole situation and ensured that we were ok.

                                            Wonderful Fish&Chips for 3 and Haddock Chowder for 1 lunch today. Friendly welcome, warm&cosy by the Woodburner, comfortable seating. Beer and Cider wonderful.

                                            A delightful setting surrounded by the estuary with wildlife in abundance. The pub is cosy, friendly and serves an enormous and excellent roast lunch. So many veg- roasted carrots, parsnips and potatoes, red cabbage, leeks, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pud. It was brilliant. And a nice walk back down the towpath to settle it!
