We’re delighted to announce that the artist, director and creative, Anouska Beckwith will be in conversation with Director of Lyndsey Ingram, and curator of our very own art collection here at The Walmer Castle; Olivia Paterson. The talk will focus on Anouska’s photographic practice and her recent bodies of work ‘The Earth is our Mother’ and ‘I Speak in Flowers,’ as well as a discussion of her wider interests – magic, spirituality and working collaboratively with other women.

I celebrated my birthday with a bigger group and we couldn’t have been better looked after. The entire team was so lovely and efficient and we just had the best night. The food was delicious and the music and atmosphere was just perfect.

I ordered a mushroom consume soup and it wasn't warm- delicious but probably better warm.

The space is beautiful and very atmospheric. We had Sunday lunch and the meat was so fatty, the portions were also quite small for veg etc and quite expensive for what we received.

Medium steak was far too salty, staff kindly took it back but came back rare and still salty, chips were undercooked, fish pie was salty and milky, no spices, no flavours, fish and chips, fish was soaked in oil and the chips were salty and again undercooked, chicken bites were undercooked, halloumi bites were ok, wine list was perfect and to the point, sticky toffee was lovely, cheesecake was overpowered with some kind of caramel sauce and soggy biscuits on top of it, service was perfect, warm welcome as ever.

Buzzy but comfortable gastropub. We had a fantastic lunch finished with perhaps the best sticky toffee pudding we’ve ever enjoyed.

The moment we walked into the bar downstairs, Walmer Castle was like a warm hug. We were ushered upstairs to our table. What a beautiful dining room. Fabulous decor, tables clean and pretty flowers, the fires were roaring. Staff were amazingly friendly, smiley and very helpful. The food was beautiful. It's quintessentially English and we can't wait to return. We started with an house salad (maybe needed more dressing), bread and house-made butter - delicious. Fish pie was full of chunky pieces of fish and came with a side of broccoli, steamed to perfection. We also had a side of savoy cabbage with bacon on the side - it was well seasoned and had lots of butter added. Delicious. Espresso martini and a martini with a lemon twist to start - both yummy! Followed by a bottle of rose from Provence with dinner. This is a hidden gem in the heart of Notting Hill.
