THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANT
We use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible.

We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed.

Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall.

We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Our food is cooked over wood from local plantations, and charcoal coppiced less than 20 miles away.

We know the story of everything on the menu.

Our lovely staff are extremely well informed, so, do ask questions on anything you’re not sure of.

Wonderful Sunday lunch today. Wish I had booked last night too. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were all very amenable and efficient. All of them were excellent which is a good sign. Very pleasant atmosphere.

The Woodsman has been our go-to restaurant for several years. Sad to report that it has suffered the fate of most restaurants. Prices are up, portions are down and the quality is now a mixed bag. The squid ravioli was not good, the other courses were OK, there was not an outstanding course. We tried three wines by the glass, none were of any quality. Service was reasonably timed, though delivery was a little mechanical. It was a busy Saturday evening so the noise level was quite high in what is now a large number of tables. Would still say that the Woodsman is worth a try in Stratford, but it is no longer the stand-out option.

Eaten here twice and both times the food has been astounding. I live in London and I’m tempted to drive up at weekends to eat here - but then maybe I’d ruin the experience! Top marks, great and helpful staff too

I thought it was going to be an overpriced roast lunch experience as everything is in the UK- But I was very very happy - first we changed our mind few times about where we wanted to eat ( restaurant or bar ) as we have a dog and you can be only in the bar area with the dug so I planned to take him back Home but what happened was great - they reserved us a table by the fire at the bar so it felt really nice! Then the food was great - and I am really demanding - The proportions were good ( the roast was plenty!!) the shared platter was good ( I thought it would be better but it was good enough) - the atmosphere was great, service was perfect and I was not easy!!! I loved everything The price was ok - I thought I would pay that - The roast was really good - the horseradish sauce could be milder if I could say a tiny improvement feedback - Thank you - seriously it couldn’t haven’t been better for the UK ( price/ food/ atmosphere/ service quality)

Fantastic pre Christmas treat. Cocktails followed by slow cooked lamb for 2 with garlic mash, wood fired aubergine and hispi cabbage. It was delicious. Highly recommended.

We did the tasting menu; it was fantastic! Service was on point and the food was excellent. We thought it was value for money and will be returning.

The food was absolutely excellent! It was our second visit as we were so impressed first time. Really delicious flavours, imaginative menu and great atmosphere. A great place to take my parents for a Christmas meal! Will be going again!

Really enjoyed the food, general feel and the staff attitude. This was for Sunday lunch and they were very busy, hence the noise level being high. Would recommend it as a great place to meet friends and enjoy a relaxed meal.
