THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANT
We use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible.

We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed.

Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall.

We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Our food is cooked over wood from local plantations, and charcoal coppiced less than 20 miles away.

We know the story of everything on the menu.

Our lovely staff are extremely well informed, so, do ask questions on anything you’re not sure of.

    A bit underwhelmed with the Sunday lunch. We both had beef which is delivered on a sharing platter .The beef itself was good ,very soft and cooked pink, generous portion of it too. Everything else was average at best . Parsnip almost raw . We paid the extra for cauliflower cheese and dirty mash , neither was great both fairly bland . Nothing was really hot enough either . The meal didn’t feel like it was cooked over fire , which seems to be a bit of a selling point for them. It was a fairly standard Sunday lunch offering. Service ok, they did get a drinks order wrong . 12.5 % service charge automatically added to bill. Would not return on a Sunday .

    X5 diners. All ordered Sunday lunch, sharing platters and deserts. Sunday lunch was fantastic with the exception of the roast potatoes which were flavourless and beyond crispy. Only one waitress attending the whole room - at least 40 covers which made service between courses extraordinarily long. This was a shame as her service was fabulous but it was clear that more resource was needed.

    I’m not usually a fan of British cuisine but this was absolutely amazing! They catered to our needs and the food was outstanding- KUDOS to the whole team it was a beautiful experience and we will definitely be back again Great portions Seasoned beautifully Cooked very well

    The main course of pork belly was under cooked. The dish was also adorned with numerous sauces that did nothing to complement the pork

    We have been looking forward to eating here for over a year and finally had a reason to book in (for my birthday) we chose to go for the Sunday Lunch and we were so so so disappointed. I'd read reviews beforehand and waved out any negative ones thinking people were being overly picky but boy oh boy was I wrong. We ordered the beef and the chicken with plans to do the two course and have a cheeseboard and cheesecake to finish but after the main was such a devastating let down we left it at that. The only delicious element was the beef, the chicken looked anemic (the skin was slimy) and under seasoned, the roast potatoes (sadly as many mentioned on the review know trip advisor) were hard and cold, the parsnips were ridiculously hard, the gravy was watery and our additional sides were nothing to write home about. If your thinking of dining here I'd give it a miss personally I'm sure there are better places in Stratford and beyond.

    Drinks service was a little slow but didn’t stop us having a lovely evening. The food was tasty and portion sizes were good. The price for the lamb special for 2 was a tad high at £85.

    Very disappointed. Service was lacking. The food was maybe average, but the prices definitely weren't average! A very disappointing experience.

    Great Sunday lunch, beef cooked just how it should be, great service and atmosphere, nice to be able to see the chefs cooking with the wood fired oven.
