We are the seafood and steak destination! A full service family restaurant, deli and convenience store that serves the best quality food and crab cakes and beverage in the Greater Baltimore Washington area in a clean, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere with a staff dedicated to providing knowledgeable, memorable and happy service to our customers. Timbuktu used to be a favorite of ours and I remember the long waits and full tables. It had been a while since we last enjoyed a meal there so went with some family departing from the airport since it is close by. First thing I noticed was how empty the parking lot was for a Saturday evening. Inside there were a lot of vacant tables. The menu looked similar to what we've always known so we went for the famous crab cakes. While the prices have gotten a lot higher the quality of the crab cakes didn't stay equally high. In years past there was just enough filler to hold the crab cake together. Now, the cake felt about 50 percent filler. It tasted okay, but contained a lot less crab meat than it used to. The sides were good, and their vegetable of the day seems to always be broccoli, but that's fine because it is always good. The server was very pleasant and accommodating to my family's flight schedule. The atmosphere was nice and the appointments in the dining room were classy. It was just Timbuktu's crab cakes not living up to their storied reputation that hurt an otherwise good experience.

Food was great as always with good service. Look forward to returning on my next trip. Crab cakes are large, delicate and good, but could have used more seasoning yesterday. Whipped potatoes were awesome. Family enjoyed the ribs as well.

Service was poor. We had a reservation but were seated in the bar area. There was one young girl working all of the tables, making drinks behind the bar and bringing food from the kitchen. We sat for 6 minutes before our presence was acknowledged. Ordered drinks which were not made and delivered for over 30 minutes. The crab cakes were tasty but contained way too much filler and not enough crab. Not likely to return.

The Cream of Crab Soup was delicious - filled with lots of lump crab meat. All staff was extremely friendly from the time we walked in the door until the time we walked out - made us feel welcome. Our server, Charles, was amazing - personable, efficient, and knowledgeable about menu options.
